Nice to see a `thank you` note left after the bag was collected; makes a welcome change.
Hope joe public`s donations will help to pay a little back for what our armed forces do on our behalf.

Forgot to mention on my earlier post; if this charity grows, as I hope it will, let`s not have any of you acting like the `fat cats` running most of the rest of the charities, big cars, fat salaries and all.

I spoke at length to ex veterans of Homeless Heroes when we were up in the north east at the end of last year and when I got home I asked my PCC at Church if our Harvest collection could go to Homeless Heroes. They agreed, but Im now concerned that we might be sending our hard earned money to a charity that does not exist. I need some clarification, who can advise me?

I have a friend who volounteers for HH and that person is one of the most integral people that I know. I have been told of ex service people who, after clarification of service, have walked out of the store with good quality furniture or any household item totally free of charge. I also know that Jason who was given every opportunity by HH, RIPPED them off and I felt ashamed as he claimed to have served in The Royal Green Jackets as I did for 16 years. Even that was a lie. He lives in peterlee.

Just to clarify, Homeless Heroes appears to be a "Company Limited by Guarantee". This is a form company typically used by non-profit organisations (set one up recently while establishing a new school).
Homeless Heroes appears to be exempt from having to use the word "limited". This exemption is granted on the condition that the non profit company does not distribute funds among its members (ie owners and directors).
Such a company, if it adheres to the conditions described, would be conducting business like a charity even if it did not enjoy the benefits that come from being registered as a charity (which can take some time).
