This is exactly what the Crimea needs. More Hotels that are modern and pleasant. I've herd too many stories of run down hotels with little hot/running water.

This will provide jobs and encourage tourists.

Yeah, crimea is a really beautiful place to visit. Easily rivals, Croatian coast. More resorts like this will make it a great vacation destination.

This is interesting. I wonder where in Yalta they'll build it. It would seem more likely for them to build it near Odessa but maybe the officials cost less in Yalta.:) The problem with western-style hotels is they are very expensive $250-$500/ night. Which only allows the mobsters to afford it.
Perhaps it will increase tourism but they still need better transportation to get people there. Cruise ships make port in Yalta but they don't stay long. To get to Yalta you have to take a plane or train to Simferopol and then take a taxi or bus the rest of the way. It takes a long time because the trains go soooo slooow.

The other thing to note is the beaches are rocks. Mostly small smooth rocks and they are not so uncomfortable to walk on. But the Sea has larger rocks that have alga growth (God, I hope it was alga!) on them that make them slick and slimey and you can not play in the water. There is no footing. But the grossest part: Of the many fat, thin, young, and old men, they all wear Speedos!!

Sorry, I didn't mean to write a travelogue but I wanted to convey how surprising this news was. Especially since its predominantly Russian and you find no signs in English and very few speakers of English.
