Excellent move. As long as Russia's puppet Viktor Yanukovych is in power EU should ignore Ukraine.

If EU is so much prodemocratic why wouldn'n they start the ignoring from China?! Ups... forgot, China is the biggest market for europe now and too rich and powerful...Well, they can be comunistic, and EU will keep licking their asses. But Ukraine - they want us to be a puppet in their hands, and if they take Timoshenko out now it means in the future they can do what they want with us and about us. Looks very democratical... doesn't it?

<quoted text>First of all it's not Merkel who was due to visit Ukraine, she's chancellor, it's the German president Joachim Gauck who has cancelled his visit. Yulia doesn't want to live in Germany, she only want's to go there for medical treatment, you can be sure that if Yulia is released she will stand against Yanukovich in the 2015 presidential election, and will probably achieve a landslide victory, it's going to backfire on Yanuk big time. China seems a strange place to go for somebody who talks about democracy, I'll need more convincing to believe that you're really Ukrainian.
Merkel is the autor of the idea about boycotting Ukraine. From when the sign of democracy is to send thiefs to the private clinics abroad for the special treatment? Timoshenko has to be in Ukraine, she needs a medical treatment- she goes to the local hospital instead of making her cheap show.
About next election - don't think Timoshenko has a chance to win. People are sick from her. Read the comments of the people on russian and ukrainian web. Once she has a power, she blow it up. It will be no other chance. So, she can be relaxed and she can start to think how she is going to amuse herself during next years in jail.

Timoszenko is a strong opposition leader today.
Really, ukrainian people has not choice : Timoszenko or Januk forever. Easy to understand, who is favorite.
Januk knows, he will stay in a jail after our victory over this prorussian regime.

Another sweet form of communism using the names of so called freedom and democracy.... An ordinary criminal or an ordinary snatcher serves to jail for many years but no one cares about it! Unlike a famous politician convicted a crime so many support to free it! Is it the form of democracy and freedom it has exception and favoritism? What about those small timer or ordinary criminals do they need to hunger strike drama and catch public attentions too just to be free of jail?As a leader it should show as a good example, fleeying the convicted criminal it invited the criminal to commit another crime next time because anyway public support the criminal. Others are so biased in this issue, if i were the criminal and steal a few coin from the market and serve to jail for many years, i wouldn't allow a government to free Yulia that she has bigger crimes than mine, not even all criminals would have such clean room, good space, good food, and with doctor inside jail, look around , look to the other side of the world how's the life of an ordinary criminals ... Much worse, yulia just lack of shopping inside the jail, just a lesson... If you dont want to go to jail then follow the rules and regulations, don't violate the law just be honest to your people...if i were to ask what are the good things I saw from Ukraine during these years those are the too much changes and improvements in Ukraine, while 7 years back then Ukraine looks hopeless.
