Moscow Signals Widening Rift With Ukraine

Full story: New York Times

The Russian president, Dmitri A. Medvedev , assailed his Ukrainian counterpart on Tuesday, blaming him for anti-Russian policies that he said had brought relations between the countries to "unprecedented lows." Medvedev is merely a puppet for psychopathic Putin's animosity to Ukraine....

Nevertheless....

Ukraine President Yushchenko Disappointed in "Unfriendly" Medvedev

KYIV, August 13./UKRINFORM/.“I am very disappointed with the 'unfriendly nature' of the address of Russia's President Dmitriy Medvedev, says Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is his response to his Russian counterpart.

“I cannot but agree with the fact that there are serious problems between our states, but it is surprisingly that you fully exclude Russia's responsibility for that,” Yushchenko noted adding that Ukraine 'has never budged from the principles of friendship and partnership fixed in the Great Agreement of 1997' and 'was doing its best for fruitful, mutually beneficial development of bilateral relations'.

As referred to Moscow's rebuke about Ukraine-Georgia relations, the Head of State has once again reminded that Georgia is not under sanctions of any international organization, so the accusations of allegedly illegal arms delivery to Tbilisi are groundless.

“Ukraine's position regarding the last year events in Georgia is well-known and coincides with the stands of actually all world countries. It lies in absolute respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders of the Georgian people or any other sovereign state,” the Ukrainian President said.

“Ukraine's course towards integration with NATO could not be a subject to criticism from Russia, as 'the right to choose international means of national security, in particular, the participation in military-political unions, is an integral element of state sovereignty of any country, and Russia must respect it', Yushchenko underscored....

You don't understand - there will be presidential elections in Ukraine this winter - Yushchenko will not be elected - his popularity rate is around 3%. Medvedev just stated Russia's opinion about this person. New president will be much more reasonable and Russia-Ukraine relations will be improved.

One of the issues in the Ukraine- Russia divide, concerns the Holodomor, Bolshevik Russia's genocide in 1930's Ukraine. Putin, and his lieutenant Medvedev, deny the genocide because it i an inconvenient truth that undermines the neoSoviet foundations of Putinist Russia.

Here is a recent article commemorating the victims of Bolshevik Russia's genocide:

Remembering the victims of genocide in Ukraine

In Brief: Saskatchewan has played its part in focusing attention on the starvation of millions of Ukrainians at the hands of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in the 1930s

Yushchenko government wanted to publish the list of the highest ranking officials responsible for Golodomor in Ukraine, but then decided not to do it, because of 23 sirnames only 3 were not Ukrainian, all others appeared to be Ukrainians themselves...Also Stalin was you friend - Georgian. (and Beria- his henchman,-georgian as well)

He is Ukrainian Canadian, his grandparents left Western Ukraine during the last days of WW2 not to be killed by communists - many of them were fighting communists in German sponsored Ukrainian nationalist forces (UNA)- so some people accuse them in being helpers of NAZI (which is not true about all of them - although some really were those helpers). He knows that his grandparents are normal people and so he wants to explain to himself and to the world why they were colaborating with Germans - the only way to explain it - is to portray those whom they were fighting with as even worse force then Nazi were - hence his atitude. I would not bother if he were blaming communists (both Ukrainian, Russian, Jewish, Georgian, Armenian,Uzbeck, Tatar etc.etc.) but he is picking Russians and it makes him a racist - there are no Russians who were adults in those times - even those who were 20 y.o. those days of hunger (which was also in Russia, not only in Ukraine), so those who were 20 those years are now 99 years old!...He just hates Russians and he hates Russians because his grandparents are not secure with explanation of their past and of their role in WW2 - to make them look saints he needs to portray Russians as devils...The only way to overcome this dreadful condition for him is to become real Christian and expirience Love which faith gives us, but he goes to church formally, he has not yet got the Holy Spirit...his reaction to this post will be the prove of it...But maybe one day he'll understand that to be hateful racist is wrong...

yushko´s lemon revolution at the helm complete disaster, poor suckers are almost lined up in bread lines in front of IMF.
ukrainkos were peasants, no wonder they were called the european bread basket...still are peasants, it takes time to convert from russian´s control of decades...oh well, what´s next julia´s hoot ?

Ha-ha-ha, one more future client of psychiatry!...It is real pain for him to live in such a state of hate - never quanchable thirst. Unfortunatelly Ukraine is more like a cave today - google for Ukrainian figures of economy and income. Millions of Ukrainians come to Russia to work to earn their living (google for those data), no Russian goes to Ukraine for work - Russia is not rich, but Ukraine is really poor and miserable these days. So I am here where I am, but those are Ukrainians who come here to Russia, so "to go back" is not about me...Or you mean to go back from this site?- are you its owner?...I googled for your Zaporishya- real stinking hole, not surprised you fled to Vienna...Nowadays more and more people in the West start to understand that you are just bums, who want to earn living by playing viktims.

Google implicated in the Orange Revolution?

Thu, 08/20/2009 - 9:52am
I have finally found evidence that the Internet was instrumental in Ukraine's Orange Revolution...Turns out it's all Google's fault!

It turns out that when you use Google Translate to translate (from Chinese to Russian) the expression "Vote for Yanukovych" (Yanukovych was Kremlin's favorite candidate), Google gives you "Vote for Yushenko" in the translated version. Global conspiracy orchestrated by Google!

Even more intriguing is how spotted the error! It was discovered by Liberty.ru, a site closely associated with the Fund for Effective Politics, a leading pro-Kremlin think-tank headed by Gleb Pavlovsky, one of Yanukovich's cheerleaders. I can only imagine how many painfull months (or years?) Pavlovsky's interns must have spent to unearth this tiny piece of evidence suggesting foreign intervention in the Orange Revolution via the Internet!

Hello Eurofriends,

Medvedev's psychopathy is evident in his latest round of bullying gestures towards Ukraine. Medvedev's recent letter to Ukraine shows how a traditional pathocracy continues to run the Kremlin.

Here is what Professor Stephen Blank, the U.S. Army War College, Carlyle Barracks, PA has to say about Medvedev's astonishingly and ridiculously undiplomatic letter:

"This is an extraordinarily petulant and impertinent letter that shows weakness, not strength. What angers Moscow is the fact that Ukraine is exercising its sovereignty in ways Moscow does not like. Medvedev again claims that Russia has a right to intervene in other sates' domestic and foreign politics, and that there is some sort of extraterritorial justification for the defense of Russians that Moscow is entitled to engage in, a doctrine out of Adolf Hitler’s and Joseph Stalin's playbook.

Although he intends to put all three candidates on notice, I believe he has ensured that a nationalist backlash will ensue, making it impossible to realize his objectives. Not only did he attack the domestic policies of Ukraine, but also its foreign policies. These actions, taken with the new defense law saying that Russia has a right to use force abroad to defend its citizens and culture (how can Ukraine's citizens be Russian ones at the same time) indicate a contempt for the CIS states' sovereignty and the limits to any true rest button.

As long as Russia believes that it is an empire or should be one, no true reset is possible with Washington or Europe, not to mention Kiev. In the end, Medvedev has only complicated and added to Russia's burdens and isolation, not its strength, and future developments will show this to be the case. For, to quote Vladimir Lenin, who certainly knew whereof he spoke, "in general, spite plays the very worst role in politics."

There can not be a strong and realizable relationship between two countries on such a different path.

Russia heading towards tolitarianism and Ukraine trying to meet the highest standards of democracy.

It's impossible I say.

The rift between the two will continue for quite a while yet.

Medvedev and Yanukovitch will be like the Master and the puppet.

Medvedev and Yushchenko will be much of the same.

Medvedev and Tymoshchenko will be as equals.
