Morning after: Balloon boy gets sick twice on TV

The father of a 6-year-old boy who was thought to be in a helium balloon that floated away said today accusations that the ordeal was a publicity stunt are "extremely pathetic." The sheriff said he will be asking more questions. Read more

Something fishy about this. If they hadn't been on "wife swap" I would say its just a regular ol' family and this was an unfortunate series of events, but their need to be on TV and center of attention brings about the possibility that they set this up. We may never know, or, we may know later this morning. If this were a hoax, they need to charged criminally and made to pay the cost of the sheriffs helicopter and all the manpower it took to take care of this. CNN, they're on their own, as they just LOVED it.

Oh, and naming your kid "falcon"? Yes, I have concluded that this is not a normal family, and yes, they should be investigated and charged, if for nothing else but naming the kid Falcon.

I thought something was fishy when the whole thing was happening. How would the kid have untethered the balloon and then crawled in the basket before it flew away? It never made sense from the beginning.

I feel bed for the kids more than anything.

there is something up here .... why would the kid just so happen to be hiding up in the rafters of the garage ?? really odd .... as soon as they said they found the kid supposedly hiding at home the first thing I said was , HOAX ....Daddy's excuse is pretty lame for for when the little kid fessed up .... actually VERY LAME .... when you try to pull off a little attention getter hoax like this you should be bright enough to know that you should not include a 6 year old .... a kid will always spill the beans sooner or later....and this little guy did SOONER

How about the real offenders in these types of stories? The news and media outlets who hype the hell out of these stories and the consumers who fuel it.

Worthless and sensationalized coverage saturation. How about we worry about things that matter like the two wars we have going on and health care?

Get a life outside garbage twitter lives.

If it was indeed true why would you put your family in the middle of the mainstream media spotlight? Wouldn't you - well normal family, want to be home holding your baby and thanking GOD he was ok? These guys are phoney's and should be charged with something - especially parading their poor kid around the media and making him lie on national tv to the point he gets physically sick? Child Services should sit up and take notes here something isnt' right!

I wonder if the vomitting is part of the scam? I would not put it past the parents to feed him something. The parents are either complicit in the ballon scam, or complete psycos.

While I'm not a fan of names like falcon, javier, what exactly do you think most names are? Most names come from things like flowers, birds, animals, and other objects. Your own name means "bright". But since it's in Spanish, you probably think it's nice. If an American named their kid "bright", you'd scorn them, right? Native Americans name their children things like falcon all of the time. Try to be culturally sensitive, please.

and the little kid vomits all the time now when he hears the question because ... daddy scolded him for spilling the beans on the hoax and is terrified when he hears the question now .... not to hard to figure out .... gee daddy why did you so happen to have the video camera out and happen to record this balloon escaping ??

I had doubts when I saw the Wife Swap footage and then the Dad fake-crying on tv followed by excerpts from the kid's YouTube Rap video. I don't like to work for money either but jeez, spare your kids from this shame PLEASE!

TOTAL HOAX FROM START TO FINISH - RESCUE SERVICES SHOULD BE PAID BY THIS CRACK-POT FOR WASTING THEIR SERVICES! I heard Geraldo call for child services to investigate on the news this morning. While I don't normally agree with Geraldo (he's a bit of a fanatic), I do think this "father" needs to be investigated.

Oh, and this family was on Wife Swap --- TWICE!!!

Reality shows and media frenzies will continue to allow these wackos to have their 15 minutes of fame...I agree that they should have some financial responsibility for the whole fiasco. Poor kids!

It's just like my mother always said "never trust a wife swapping, storm chaser to tell the truth". These people are nothing but publicity hounds.
