I loved both the mini series and the weekly series. I hope they have good writing because that will make or break this project. The effects now will be awesome. Can't wait to hear who will be cast in this.

Based on "The 4400," Scott Peters has earned some goodwill with me. I expect that he could revamp "V" successfully. However, this seems like an odd project for ABC, of all networks, to be interested in promoting.

YESSSS..!!!! FINALLY...!!
There were rumors - years back - of a sequel to these mini-series, tentatively named V - The Next Generation - but I kept waiting...and nothing... I just checked IMDB and this "rumored" mini is now scheduled for a 2009 viewing - so, perhaps the two are the same project, now FINALLY getting revived. It's about time - can't wait. Really LOVED the first 2 minis. Keep watching them at least once a year - that's a lot of years since 1980. So, it's time to find out how the Resistance is now faring. The Series not so much. Except for Robin's baby Elizabeth growing up overnight - a phenomenon that was copied by Stargate SG-1 with Vala Mal Doran's daughter Adria (so, apparently I'm not the only one who is fascinated by this concept). Good for ABC & Warner Bros. Am disappointed that SCIFI did not initiate this... But, oh well... Hope they write it as good or better than the first 2 minis. Kudoos to the new writers - good luck..!!

As an avid fan of "V", I am absolutely disturbed by this. The new book from Kenneth Johnson which advances the "v" universe 20 years is amazingly good, and any other attempt to bring this franchise back to life will be a very bad idea. There has been talk(and a mention on IMDB) that most of the stars from the original show have already signed on to be a part of any mini series created from the new book.

Basically, agree about ABC - although they did have LOST - which, IMO is in the SCIFI category. But like I said before, am surprised - and disappointed - that the SCIFI Channel is not the one to initiate this project. But again... oh well... whatever works. Am really excited...

I thought Kenneth Johnson was working with NBC on a new "V". Did that fall through? How can two networks be working on what basically amounts to the same project? In any case, I just want to see some movement, they're been talking about a new "V" forever.

this cannot be good, even if the show is perfect, every sentence dotted, every actor amazing it will fail to get great ratings.

Because

1. there is only a limited number of sci/fi fans
2. there will be too many original series nut cases preaching how its not the original (even if it produces 3 times as many shows)
3. those nut cases will be joined by the book extremies that do not understand good books do not translate into good tv or movies (thus they are disappointed and join the orginal NCs to put a real damper on the ratings

Dreamwalker might have a point; "Invasion" never delivered the ratings ABC wanted & was cancelled. As for us nut, I would hope that we learned from BSG that you can take original material & make it better.

Um, AWESOME! First off, new V series = WIN. Secondly, I am freaking pumped for this series because it looks like the guys behind it really care about the material. And, if you look closely you can see that a guy named Jace Hall is an Executive Producer which is fantastic news! He was the guy who started MONOLITH games, and headed up stuff like TRON 2.0, F.E.A.R., CONDEMNED, and a ton of other AWESOME games. If you've ever played any of his stuff, you know that the guy cares about story and how to engage an audience. I recently became addicted to his online show which is just called "The Jace Hall Show" and it's funny as hell! I CAN'T WAIT to see this series come back in a big way.'V' is in very good hands!

This is gonna be AWESOME! I'm a huge fan of the original series, and I definitely think that this is in VERY good hands. I read that Jace Hall is actually one of the producers on the project, which is great because he's the guy who founded Monolith Games (they made F.E.A.R, Condemned, TRON 2.0) so he knows what he's doing when it comes to storytelling and creating atmosphere. I actually found a show he has online that's just called The Jace Hall Show, and it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I CAN'T WAIT! Go JACE!

Most of us have learned you can improve on the orginal but i do not believe the hard core fans of the orginal would say its better.

Im just bitter- i think i have come to expect the future is- major networks going to a strict reality format

"Dancing with Superstars and Athetes" will join "Living in an Undersea World" and "Keeping Office Secrets" as our shows of tomorrow.

Who needs shows with writers or actors when you can stick a bunch of people in a room and tell them to make controversy; after all who wants to think while watching tv

The miniseries 'V' was must-see tv when it aired. Everyone was watching it. And who could forget Jane Badler swallowing that poor rat.

I loved "V" when it first aired and collected more "V" memorablilia than I know what to do with =). I went to the "V" convention in 2000 in Downtown LA, I have been waiting for NBC to do "V :Second Generation", I gotta say that regardless of the credentials of the new team of directors & producers, if Kenneth Johnson is NOT attached to this project--then It should never get off the ground!! This is Ken's World--we are um...Visitors =)

With America now coming the fascist control of Obama and his drones, this should have some new poignancy.

I would rather see a new double mini series like the original. If they try to develop a series it will fail. Scifi series do not make it on broadcast TV. I also hate how these guys think they can tweak it and make it better. There was a reason why the original is an icon. I hope those idiots remember that.

Martin,

Yea lets bring Obama into it. Grow up man. Like Bush has done such a wonderful job. I swear its sad how some people would rather see the country bankrupt and go to hell then see an African American take office.

I loved the movie and the series, TV was in a real slump, like it is now with all of the dumb ass reality shows and shitty game shows, back then there were lawyer and crime shows. Just hope it's not a peace of crap like the remake Bionic Woman and Knight Rider. These shitty remakes don't follow the original show, don't even have any of the original stars. and it also had cool music. It will never live up to the original, it brought back Sci-fi to network TV. I don't watch new programs, they don't give them a chance.

Bringing "V" back, oh YES!! Please make sure that some of the people from the original series are in it!! I loved Mark Singer. Just make sure you get good writers, it seems like since the writers strike, some shows came back brain dead, or maybe it was the writers.

I really miss Women's Murder Club, what happened to that? It seems since the writers went on strike their brains stayed there. Bring back Women's Murder Club and "V" would be absolutely awesome. I agree with John Kane, I hate the dumb reality shows and game shows as well.

Hollywood must be taking a George Bush ecomony lesson. Let's give everything to the rich and nothing to the viewer. Therefore we should accept any crap "Hollywood" puts out there. Maybe there should be the same kind of standards for TV that they use for teachers.

ABC has some very good programs, but also some real losers. Dump the stupid game shows. The advertisers are WRONG to market to the 18-24 year olds. They don't have any money, it is MOM and DAD who sit and watch TV, not the 18-24 year olds. It always amazes me that television does not know who their viewers are! You need better surveyers.

Bring back Women's Murder Club!! The only show I watch on your station is Grey's Anatomy, and since the writers strike, it doesn't seem to have fine their niche.
