No the family does not deserve to sue these doctors...this is what pisses me off. People bitch and moan about everything, his death was an accident...take the wrongful death settlement and be happy. People forget that doctors are human and mistakes happen,a torn aorta and a heart attack are similar to each other and the treatment for one will make the other worse, just like the video said. So would they be sueing if they had treated for the torn vessel and it was a heart attack? I swear there is just no winning for doctors.

Amen to that. Humans are human...that's why there is insurance, to help when there is an accident! Not to breal the insurance company...what does that prove, that the jury was a bunch of idiots? It was an ACCIDENT!

Maybe John Ritter AND other celebs shouldn't worry about using alias names. Just sign in, and get the help you need. Maybe he wouldn't have been overlooked for the X-ray had he used his right name and the outcome might have been different. Providence St. Josephs Hospital is a wonderful hospital. My family and I have had nothing but top-notch service and care there.

I used to live in Burbank...my younger brother was born at St. Jo's...it was a GREAT hospital...aside from this terrible news I have not heard of any bad or wrong doings...Hospitals have a hard enough time what with the poor not paying bills, etc...just what they need.

I do not know if you are interested in want I have to say, but just as a helping tool for you, with connection to the John Ritter lawsuit. I clicked the link that was in one of the articles and got your email. So here is my information.
I July 2001, I had an aortic dissection occur on me. At that time, I was a very healthy 56 year old white male, when the dissection occurred. I originally thought I was having a heart attack, and when to the emergency room. All the heart testing results came back normal, and related the sever pain to gall bladder problem. So my ball bladder was removed the next day, and was discharged the following day. Skipping a lot of how I was feeling for the next few weeks, I returned to a family doctor, when he informed me that my heart was beating extremely fast and sent me to the hospital for some test. A blood test revealed my hemoglobin to be down to 5.4, and was quickly given a echocardiogram, which the performing doctor discovered I have an >>AORTIC DISSECTION<< immediate arrangement were made for a transfer to Hannemann hospital in Philadelphia.
My dissection was not discovered until 3 weeks after my original going to the hospital. The reason I am telling you this is, it is my non-medical opinion that an aortic dissection can not readily be detected, unless the operator is specifically looking for an aorta problem. My dissection was healed with medication, and no surgery was performed to correction the problem. Also, my Aortic Dissection was located on the ascending part of the aorta. If any of this information is of value, even with both doctors in the John Ritter Law Suit found not liable. this may be of some assistance.
If this is of some remote value, please feel free to contact me. My E-mail address is : [email protected] or my home
