went to see the preview of 300 on thursday night, 15th March. Was taken aback by the standard of visual effects, and the lengths taken to achieve the 'comic book effect'. What a fantastic experience, thoroughly entertained.
I really don't know, or care, about the over opinionated professional 'critics' who choose to see what they see in this type of film, they have to sell papers etc.
Fact 300 (plus a good number of helots) spartans died at Thermopolea, fact there are no living witnesses, fact we depend on the fictions to entertain us, fact, this film entertained to the point that what we were watching was undeniably fiction, as the real event would not have been so easy to interpret.
I look forward to other such translations of literature onto the screen. Maybe we'll see something from Stephen Donaldson;
Final Comment; after this film, where can the film makers go from here. Just bloody awsome

Dominic West is Jimmy Fuc____ McNulty, and from the opening scenes of Episode One, Season One, when he asks why would anyone allow Snotboogie back into the Craps game(after running off with the pot), the Wiire almost wasn't renewed after S3(McNulty walking the beat smiling(Square Chin and all), and coming back to bring Marlo down for killing Boodie(For which he feels and is partly resposible, we must know the fate of Jimmy Fuc____ McNulty, as the Wire climaxes after Season 5, we have been given something Mr. West should be proud of, A beleiveable role and aheck of acting job from a British guy portraying a B-More Cop. Jolly Good Luck, Mr. West and may you have continued sucess in your future endeavors. David Farrington ([email protected])

Not sure when the last season premieres but this will be the focus:

"In a statement, HBO confirmed reports in Sunday's Sun that the fifth season would look at the role of mass media in contributing to cities' dysfunction."
