The last line of the article should read:

The season premiere will go up on HBO On Demand on Monday, DEC. 31.

It's a shame this is the final season - quality show.

I agree The Wire is one of the most underated shows on TV. It deserved Emmys and then some.

I haven't watched the wire since Season 3. I never thought it was a good idea to kill off Idris Elba's character, he was much more complex than the average drug dealer, and because of his nuances a great storyline for the show. I emailed the show repeatedly saying I didn't think I would watch if they killed off Idris, and I ended up keeping that promise. This season seems more appealing than last (didn't care for the idea of targeting middle school kids), and will be glad to see Dominic taking a larger role once again.

Despite any misgivings about last season, it is definitely one of the best shows on TV, for the first two seasons, I think it was the best show on TV, and I'm still shocked that it isn't at the very least nominated for Emmys. The only notable awards I know of that has recognized the brilliance of The Wire is the Peabody Awards.

And about Deadwood, I don't think an agreement was reached about the Deadwood movies, so you might be waiting awhile.

you messed up by not watching the 4th season. it was a great season, and one of the middle school kids will play a big part in the drug organization. it wasnt just about middle schoolers either, it was still about marlo, cutty, slim charles, omar, prop joe, cheese play big parts. the middle school stuff was good too. you missed out forreal, and now you wont really know whats going on. and chris and snoop, marlo's enforcers played a huge part. they were great characters. u really need to catch up

IMO, season 2 was the worst. It dragged on and on. I almost gave up on the Wire but returned to watch S3 & 4 and will watch 5.
