When I walk past the local high school, half-gagging at the stench of marijuana; when I see derelicts in the alley not even hiding their crack "pipes" as they ask "Excuse me, Sir, can you spare some change for a homeles father?"; I am filled with disgust. Egad, these folks are almost as repulsive as many of the public "servants" for whom I have voted! Let's leave the dopeheads back on the streets and alleys and incarcerate the lowlifes I voted for.(Many of whom you too, Dear Reader, have voted for.)

Does it count as violent if the local crackheads start stealing anything they think they can sell from the neighborhood? Some people might see it that way, some might not. Some people think crackheads aren't really responsible for their actions because they're addicted, which is nonsense.
And who are you kidding about juries considering past criminal histories when making decisions? Juries are intentionally kept in the dark about those things.
Where I come from, most theft and violent crimes are drug-related. If people get help through the prison system, get referred to treatment somehow, then keep arresting them. But I think that just acquitting the defendants will not help.

Watch "the Wire" on DVD as a whole with an open mind and you may have a better understanding of the failing "war on drugs". At least they've offered some solution to the problem and opened up a debate on the subject.
Lgal drugs kill.
