While I love the work and struggle that Tavis Smiley has done and will continue to do, I can't understand how every year he assembles, as he put it, "the best and brightest minds in Black America" and Black America's condition is still the same, if not worse.

“These conversations are about inspiring people; empowering people; and uplifting people. It’s not just about talk.” That is just about all I have seen since. With all the talent, resources and wealth (mental and financial), what can be seen to come from it?

Before you criticize me for asking a legitimate question, understand I did host a local Covenant with Black America event. You can watch them at:

Black people have to learn, first, how the come together in unity, unify our talents and resources and them build a strong, independent community all across America.

Gee, you think Obama will be there ...?

I bet even Cornel West doesn't show up for this one.

Pull your had out of your butt, Tavis.

It's over.

You are right know4life. Is he trying to capitalize on the plight of his people or does he have a real concern? If he does what is he doing to make a real difference considering he is one in the limelight. Yes you can have discussion all day long but without action it is pointless. Set a example in which to follow because talk is cheap. I would like to see these high profile blacks setting a example and paving a way instead of the "litle people" having to struggle among each other with no support.

When its all said and done they still seek that approval from their oppressors and as long as they keep that mind set nothing will be achieved or accomplished as you can see in 2009.

There's a long list of blacks who blew it with Obama which is why none of these people got invites to White House.

Tavis Smiley's name is at the top of the list, then comes Cornel West, Jesse Jackson and all the other meatheads who did everything in their power to keep him from becoming president.

Rev. Wright is not even on the list because even the people on the list think the shit he pulled was sick.

Basically, Tavis and Cornel threw Obama under the bus. They trashed Obama for not coming to Tavis's last fish fry. They implied he was a sell-out and Tom who didn't have any "love for his people" as Cornel put it.

In reflection, I'm glad they all showed their true colors when they did. Now Obama doesn't owe any of them spit now.

And it must hurt like hell to be them now. Tavis and Cornel must have written 20 books between them about what it takes to succeed as a black American and now the most successful black American of all time won't even invite them over for lunch.

And speaking of eating, it really must have been like eating crow for Cornel when Obama appointed his blood enemy (Summers) to a cabinet post.

Jesse Jackson knows if he's caught anywhere in the vicinity of the White House his black ass is going to jail.

So does this means that Prime Minster Farrakhan is invited? Or do I interpret you wrong right now.
