What the hell, the one thread that team had was the fact that the team was strong - unbreakable. Shane has really messed up. Lem go screwed over when he was willing to take it all. Should have been Shane. This destroyed everything they had - the Shield is over for me. Now they are just dirty cops.

You are so right! I said the exact same thing last night when the show ended- abt the show being over for me. I was so hurt. If anyone on the strike team was going to kill Lem, it should have been Vic, not Shane. Shane was such a jerk, and they stood by him and got him out of trouble when he messed up and killed that girl. Truth be told, it is Shane's fault that Lem couldn't just go to prison and do his 18 months. If Shane hadn't gotten in bed with Antwoine Mitchell, Lem wouldn't have been in danger of being killed in prison.

I keep hoping that this whole thing is just a decoy, a really elaborate way to fake Lem's death, but I know that this is the end. Next season has to be the end for the Shield. Frankly, I am disappointed with the writers. Killing Lem is just too obvious. The beauty of the Shield is that no matter what the viewers think has to happen or is going to happen, they always surprised. I called every aspect of last night's finale from the very first moment. The only reason that I kept watching was because I figured that the writers were smarter than I am and they will see some twisted but legitmate way to get them out of this. I am so disappointed that they went with the obvious easy way out.

The question now is whether Vic will find out that Shane did it- and if he doesn't, then I will be really pissed because it is so obvious that it was him, but he has to find out because he is Vic and he said at the end that he would, and whether he is going to let Shane live.

I realize that I am taking this way too seriously, but I really prided myself on being a huge fan of the best, most unpredictable show on TV and now I can't tell people who love 24 that they like the pansy version of the Shield because for the first time in the entire run of the show, I am disappointed.

I totally agree.

I was so mad when shane killed Lem. I was dissapointed that I even watched the finale. Time for accevada(?) to die along with shane. And Cavanagh Should have to "Accevada" someone for all the problems he has caused.

This season seemed way to drawn out compared to other seasons I was not happy with this season at all.

I was very dissapointed with Lem's death also. He got caught up in that little bitch shanes mess and got killed for it. I really really dislike shane, but i think that the next season is going to be one of the best, as well as the last of the shield. I think that Vic is going to kill shane or, shane is going to kill himself, either way its still my favorite show no matter what, and it will always continue to be. I just dont like the fact that the 'strike team' is no longer the strike team. vic, shane, lem and ronnie. without lem.. what are they going to do with the show?

Lem's character was one of the main reasons I watched the show. He gave the team a little sense of heart that the other characters did'nt have. I hope this is not the end for Lem and if so I hope Shane goes down by the hands of Vic.That will be interesting w/out the team getting busted

i agree, i think that this is the last season. i can't see how the strike team can continue without Lem. You saw what happened when they brought in Tayvaun. that didn't last. i feel like the next season is so far away.

I thought that episode was amazing. One of the most powerful moments Ive ever seen on TV. People complain about it being predictible, but thats because Shane didnt really have any way around it.
The acting was amazing, and the way it was done was great. Lem's little exclamation of happiness on getting the sandwich in the car, right before his friend killed him, just made it that much more powerful.

The team have been losing their humanity for some time. Shane's a weasel. Lem didn't have the stomach for the job. Good riddance, Lem.

They are obviously setting up for the end with Lem's death. I've heard that the creator feels the show is taking up too much of his time (I think I will quit my job as well, it takes up WAY too much of my time). I think the climax will be a showdown between Mackey and was has wrought - namely Shane (Mackey showed him the way to get out of trouble is to kill, even if it is a cop). The winner of that stand-off is anyone's guess, but it will be intense for sure.

Umm these guys have always been dirty cops, maybe not as rookies but certainly since the shows been on and they've been the strike team, when they killed a cop for investigating them they made that decision together... yes even Lem...otherwise he would have spoken up long ago. It's all karma as they like to say.

Lem had to go, he refused to go on "vacation", Shane knew he would make that decision, hence he showed up with a grenade sandwich, which he didn't give him until Lem actually told Shane that he wouldn't travel. I mean Shane has a new baby to think about!

Likely what will happen is Shane will go to jail, after being arrested by Vic for killing Lem, and then Antoine will kill Shane in jail, and everybody's happy. Vic and Ronnie will get off scot free...Claudette's lupus will catch up with her...and Vic will make Captain despite his sketchy jacket...end of series.

It's a shame but it had to happen. Lem's unwillingness to go on 'vacation' was something Shane wasn't prepared to live with. So Shane sent Lem on 'vacation' anyway. One way ticket down the highway to hell.

yep, its stupid that they killed of lem, I knew shane was going to do something to lem, but I thought he would get hurt and then end up in a coma or something. It really pissed me off when he threw a grenade in the car...died while he was eating a sandwich...how sad

Good points, but lets not forget, none of us know who was in on it. We can def. rule out Ronny, but my friends, I shudder to think if Vic's involved bc that will be such a huge let down. Let's hope not, and hope that in the end, Vic takes out Shane.
Also, 2 actors whose characters were written out of the show could come back into play.#1 - Tayvaugn, could come back and exact revenge on Shane which would b sweeter bc Lem was the closest to Tayvaugn, and they never explained what happened 2 him.#2 - Don't remember name, but the Latino actor who was Shane's vice partner and left bc he didn't like what he "thought" was going on. Just some thoughts.

To hit a point someone said about watching reruns, i see them on FX and Spike and it kills me to c the Strike team laughing, workin, joking around bc i know(and u all know), what the outcome is with Lem. Season 2 was my favorite, when they decide to rob the train, and its hard to watch bc of the outcome this past "half" season.

Army was the name of that piece of $#!t partner that shane had. He wouldn't take 'one' for the team. I say that Army should have been the one to have been 'offed' in place of lem for being so sorry. All in favor of offing a few of the writers for the shield for killing off lem say 'I'!!

I don't watch much t.v. and had never heard of The Shield until my girlfriend started collecting the series on dvd. After she bought the first couple seasons at Fry's, I finished her collection shortly after for her birthday.
She was excited and told me I had to watch them with her. I figured I'd just make her happy and watch a few with her. But I was hooked after the first episode. I've never seen such a clever show with so many great characters and interesting twists, turns, situations, and relationships.
However we just got as far as the tragic death of Lem last night and I gotta say, it depressed the crap out of me. I had dreams about it, and woke up feeling gloomy over it, as if I was there.
It's weird how a character can grow on you like they are real. My girlfriend cried and I have found myself doing the same. I'm 6'2", 235 lbs male who can kick some ass when necessary, and Lem's death straight up made me cry.
I think what makes it so sad and hard is that in a movie, even when a character you like dies, it's usually only about an hour or two you got to know them. You might be sad, but you understand.
But in this case, if you watched the show from the beginning, you feel like you grow with the characters. Through 5 whole seasons and lots of episodes, we grew with Lem and cheered him on. He was our boy. Damn was it sad to see him go, especially the way he did.
We were both pissed, shocked, and hurt that the writers allowed such a great character to die, and that so tragically. He was our favorite guy. It's gonna be very hard to finish the rest of the series now. I really wish they hadn't done that.
