OK... So, as a teacher I knew signing up that I am watched by the public and one slip up - especially here in southingon can get you fired or resigned - whatever. The media did this teacher a disservice. She was leaving quietly with a letter of recommendation - now everyone knows. She is going to have a very hard time now to get another job - way to go media! I am not saying she should have resigned but she was stupid to go on. You are suppose to be a positive role model. You know if teachers got paid more money so they wouldn't have to struggle or work two jobs a lot of these issues wouldn't happen. Top step teachers (after about 10-15 years) get paid OK like in the 70's but new teachers??? low 30's... Teaching is by far the most stressful and important job there is. Without them there would be no doctors or engineers etc. We sign up and inspire children... have conversations with them... keep them focused without computers, games, TV, cellphones etc. If teachers got what they deserved a lot of these things could be avoided. Please don't judge teachers. Of course there are bad eggs out there but the majority of us work very hard to ensure our youth have a positive future.

I agree! Thanks for supporting teachers. As one myself and a former resident of the town I too am disgusted by the media. There are FAR more newsworthy events that our society should be focusing on.

One out of four teachers leave within the first 5 years of teaching. That tells us something - that we need to reevaluate what is going on to address these issues. And having taught for nearly ten years I made no where near 70,000. I will not make that until I work for over 20 years if I am lucky.

Let's support our teachers. Thanks for being a voice of reason Nina! I think it is time for a letter writing campaign to the board of education.
