If you expand it and stop talking from a US-centred view, many detectives from novels were agnostics or atheists, or at the very least, had no patience for religion in general. Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Inspector Morse and many others in novels, TV and movies could be added to the list. It's no surprise that fiction matches real life - critical thinkers tend to be atheists, those who want easy answers are believers.

And let's not forget any Star Trek made while Gene Roddenberry was alive, none of the pro-religious drivel made after he died. Roddenberry's goal of using TV to make social commentary and change (e.g. the first black-white kiss on TV) included his atheism. Many of his characters reflected that, especially in the "Next Generation" series.

That's true. Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorite TV characters ever! Haha. What's your point though?

I am enjoying The Big Bang Theory, wherein 6 of the 7 principle characters are atheists.

I am also highly amused that one of the atheist characters is portrayed by an actor who is not.

This is most amusing to me-- surly a 180 turn of events.

Sorta like when a straight actor plays a gay character (see: Will and Grace, Kiss Of The Spider Woman)?

Or a gay actor plays a straight?(Sheldon of The Big Bang Theory).

As time goes forward, the gay or straight becomes normalized-- it's already happened in what TV is currently offering.

And now, believer or atheist, atheism becomes ordinary in such shows as The Big Bang, or all of the Star Trek series, where the believer becomes a minority-- and is looked down upon with sadness, to contemplate the loss of self that religion demands.

If one takes the Second Commandment seriously, every television performer and every television viewer's faith should be questioned. Television is the ultimate graven image and it's inventor, Philo Farnsworth was hard core LDS. Don't believe me? Check it out.

Superficially at least.
Few people are so superstitious as to believe in the virgin birth or an Abrahamic god(s)-(certainly not if they think about it!:-) Religion is now a house of cards.

There is no evidence of any interventionist god, nor any afterlife. Sound historical evidence is scarce for Jesus and King Arthur....

They're both myths.

Religion = superstition
Theology = mythology

I've wondered this, so which principal characters are atheists? Please, name the names! And who is the actor who is not atheist?

And each and every one of them is a bleeding hypocrite as a result.

Acting is the ultimate anti-christian activity.

As far as I know, from the internet (take it w/a grain), for the main characters, all the main actors are atheists, except Mayim Bialik (Amy Fowler, Sheldon's gf).

So that would be Kaley Cuoco (Penny), JIm Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Lenard), Melissa Rauch (Bernadette), Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj).

There are other reoccurring characters, of which I have no information, except Wil Wheaton (who plays himself) is likely atheist from what he's said in the past.

That's all I have, even after a bit of shallow googling...:)

One click per comment, gives 30 judgits. Total time: 5 minutes, front to back.

As compared to Siro, who must've manually clicked 1000's of times, taking several hours of wasted existence.

Because one thing is certain: Siro is too stupid to use automation. Godbots are like that-- it's why they believe in a dark ages god.

keep manually clicking, Siro/Rio/asshat...

If his life is already a waste, what difference does it make which particular rat hole he chooses to pour any particular of it down?
