Just a few minutes ago during 'The Big Bang Theory' on Digital TV Channel GO!, there was some sort of ad, set to Bob Dylan's "Things have changed". It took up the entire ad break, save for a channel promotion, and ended with a black screen "Canberra - Things have changed". Unfortunately I wasn't paying much attention and only realised it was ...

I thought the ad was terrible! I didn't even know what the point of it was until the caption 'canberra-things have changed' appeared. It looks like amateur work and what does parkour have to do with Canberra?! I wonder if anyone else shares my opinion.

I absolutely love the ad and the image it paints of Canberra. My only concern is that it should drop the scene of a youth vandalising a space with spray paint...such an action is not only unlawful but total anti-social!

what a great add, i was drawned to it as the music not the lyrics was so much in line with the True Blood theme. i didn't even know it was a Dylan song.

Regardless of the artistry in the ad, the morals it displays are digusting. The way it encourages graffiti, gangs, fence jumping, gambling and implies the use of illicit drugs (The sign that displays "Your local grass Dealer")is a 2 and a half minute morally degrading waste of time. Surely advertising does not have to stoop to such standards.

OK, I'm uni-aged, so pretty much the target demographic. While I don't speak for everyone my age, my opinion is not unique.

It's horrible.

The editing is ridiculous (photos of the John Curtin Med building? Seriously?), the message is ridiculous (hey look! We aren't boring anymore! There's crime in Canberra and you can do parkour here!) and the graphics (flying boxes??) were abysmal. The locations are also questionable - notice the fitness first banner on the side of the escalator? That's just bad camera placement, I hope. God fobid having a gym would be a drawcard for Canberra.

I can only hope this never airs interstate, or we'll be mocked even more than we are at present.

The fundamental idea behind the ad also doesn't work.

Just so you know, the sign saying "Your local grass dealer" is one of a whole bunch of advertisements for Canturf, a local turf grower and supplier. Those ads are meant to be cheeky. As for the other 'disgusting' morals dislayed: there isn't any 'gang' activity shown (nor gambling) and since when is 'fence jumping' a crime?! It's called parkour, and it's a recognised sport/activity.

Hufus, appreciate your comments, but chill out! I'm much older (closer to 60 than 50), and I love the add, nearly as much as I love Canberra and all it has to offer, much of which is depicted in this ad.
