I have heard many rumors about a new series. One has it set in post-Nemesis time period. Another one,(supposedly) called "Star Trek:Federation" (set in 30th century) has been proposed. I have even heard rumors of a new ANIMATED Trek (hopefully NOT!). What is the real story on the next possible series? I think i would like a post-Nemesis series, but a couple of others i think i would be cool would be to have the first voyages of the Daedalus Class in the 2160s, or how about a series set in 2245, when the 1701 is commissioned under the command of---CAPTAIN ROBERT APRIL!!! These 2 are are just my own ideas, but does anyone have any real info on the proposed new series, like what is setting, when will it be created, etc.?

Nothing seems certain, but didn't I also read of a sort of spin off of the Original Series characters after the JJ Abrams sequel next year, also? Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the crew?

I have heard of the Abrams series as well. But..i have also heard that it would NOT be set in the parallel universe. Also, i hate to say this, but "Star trek" was an ok film, but i thouhgt it was a little too "Star Wars-ish" looking at times. And a few things seemed just too out there for me....mainly the idea that the Enterprise would be constructed on ground rather than in orbit...WHY?

The thing between Spock and Uhura was a little too much for me, as well... while overall I find lots of it a good watch and quite well done, McCoy and Scotty are mighty good approximations, for example... but others... meh.

I also found the "beaming a great distance while at warp" a bit far-fetched, even for the brilliant Scotty! Also, did you notice the stardate the computer gives for the commission of the jellyfish vessel...it states "stardate 2387." If the ship came from our (re:Star trek "prime") universe, shouldn;t it have a 5 digit stardate? For 2387, it should be a 5 digit number beginning with 6-4! Weird....

But to see Leonard Nimoy one last time... just kind of lifts the movie to a very high level for me.
