First, I saw Star Trek last night at the Deer Park Regency theater on the Imax screen. The movie was great, and seeing it in Imax is the only way to do so. Won't give away the plot, but, it definitely sets up a new series of movies with the original crew.

Second, I concur with Newsday's ranking of the pre-existing Star Trek movies. I always said, Wrath of Kahn was the best of the original crew movies, while First Contact was clearly the best of the Next Generation crew. But...if one were to put Kahn and First Contact head to head, I would have to say First Contact is indeed the best of them all.

I enjoyed the first Star Trek movie. Perhaps it's because I like
a bit of mystery. Not knowing what's lurking out there. Instead of
aliens being seen, or races clashing with each other, I kind of
enjoyed the unknown.

Over the years I've come to appreciate the first Star Trek film more and more.

I liked Undiscovered Country a lot. Also, just my opinion, but i don;t think ST Generations gets the credit it deserves; it think it was really interesting and very "deep", about life, death, reality, etc.

"Generations" is definitely a tough one for get into, since I felt the death of James T. Kirk was a little slack... overall, though, I've found the movie a pretty enjoyable view, and it does pass the Original Series gauntlet visibly over to the NG.

The Undiscovered Country is dark, deep and moving ending to the Star Trek epic, great story, great acting.
