May 24, 2010 03:47 AM EDT views: 1456 4 Talk about a bait and switch scheme! The series finale of ABC's hit series 'Lost' tonight didn't even attempt to answer any of the lingering questions that have kept fans tuned in for the past six seasons, instead opting for a cheesy reunion of the cast in a church, dead or alive - your call.

This finale will join a few other TV shows in the annals of epicly bad writing. This does not explain anything well.

There was two bad cop-out finale they could have chosen, one was to pretend it was a dream, the other to pretend they were dead. Oh wait! the first one was already used up by the Dallas TV series where they wiped out an entire season pretending it was a dream.

And the "Touched By An Angel" ending used last night on Lost was already used to the point of nausea by the smarmy TV series.

I agree with your "touched by an angel" ending...(Lame...)
and the writing cop-out of "it's a dream/no they're dead!"

Lost finale turns 6 seasons into one long version of the "Sixth Sense"
all the mystery and existential questions where abandoned for a
simple sugar-coated "I see dead people..." explanation...!?

Really? that's the best they could come up with...?

What is so disappointing about finding out that the flash sideways was some kind of purgatory?

I thought it was great. Time and space were irrelevant. The people were there to connect to the people that were important to them in life, whenever they died also.

I am seeing a lot of people confused that the finale meant that they were dead all along. That isn't what it said at all.

I thought it was a really good resolution.

Toby -

Maybe you are right and Jack only died when the flash-sideways started happening...? That's one possibility...?

But, I find writing that resorts to "it's a dream/he was dead" very simplistic and an easy cop-out... sorry if you feel otherwise :-(

Plus, trotting out "Jack's Dead" as an explanation makes me wonder how far back he died? I think it's entirely possible Jack was dead the entire series... From the very first time we saw his eye open to the moment it closed last night...

Yes I think it was that the flash sideways was the purgatory and the Island was real. But then again they showed the flight 815 wreckage during the credits and there were no survivors....so i think they're just messing with us at this point!!!

I think it was a total cop out. I LOVE spiritual stuff but this was not the best way to wrap up a show 6 season's worth of scientific mysteries questions. It basically makes it all moot, nothing matters now. We never resolve Widmore. What's with the polar bear remains w/Dharma collar being in Tunisia? What's point of the time travel...everything was only for JACK to finally come to terms with his own death.

It's just a money making scheme...for advertising and now it will be BUY THE BLU RAY FOR ANSWERS.

I agree with the initial post...what a cheesy, loose end, and cop out, to a great TV show legacy. I think questions were unanswered and some people were not tied together in any acceptable form in the ending. NOT ALL of ending lacked the "up to now," creativity of the writers, but after making so many tangents, time constraints, and the pressure of a Finale...I believe "Lost," actually got LOST!

I personally think they left the ending open like they did, as far as daniel, miles, the pilot (forgot his name) and the rest of the characters so they could possibly use them in future projects such as movies based on the show.

Let's not forget about Micheal and his kid... there was almost a whole season about them... and where were they in that last episode... not to mention the dog...

So people mean to tell me that their time on the island was nothing more than them playing "dress up" running around doing irrelevant tasks JUST to meet these other people? Oh great, that explains them kicking the shit out of each other throughout the whole entire series... It was lame, I am thoroughly not impressed.

The dog came and laid by Jack when he was dying on the island.

'Lost' was a heap of overrated garbage from early in the first series.
From episode 3 or 4 it should be renamed 'Lost interest'

Haters gotta hate.

I loved it. There are shows that I don't like, but I don't generally waste time trashing the finale...you know...since I didn't like the show in the first place. LOL

It's funny the people who liked the cheesy ending can't explain why they liked it. They just did.

And no, most of us liked Lost. We just did not like the bad ending.

NO haters here.:-)

I turned it off after 2 minutes of the first episode, never seen anything so stupid and false in my life, except for ideologists.

None of those wankers would last 1 day in real isolation or stress. But I must admit, it was a yank show, so idiocy is expected.

The ending was great because it came together. The viewer never knew if the sideways flash was real or not.

It was unique, well-written and will be missed.

The plane wreckage was for nostalgic purpose only...(as confirmed by ABC)- for those still confused

and they did NOT die in the plane crash...can't believe people are confused about that

and a lot of questions were answered...sorry it wasn't spoon fed to you...

it's funny how Lost haters & haters in general (of any show) are so obsessed with bashing it...if you didn't like it, were disappointed...well 1) that sucks for you LMAO 2) you deal with it and move on....why waste your time going on and on about how you didn't like it is beyond me...but to each his own

excellent show and finale...

1. Lost "nuked the hatch" - "sunk the island"

TV terms to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where the...

...finale changed how you viewed the show.

The origin of this phrase comes from a Lost episode where the cast of Lost nuked the hatch and sunk...

...the island and ended the show in purgatory.

Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show... May 23rd, 2010

I can't re-watch season 6. The purge-a-story ending ruined the whole series for me.

Lost is unwatchable garbage now!
