Hey EX, that's pretty IGNORANT of YOU to think that somehow or another that we don't rate an opinion because of what you went through and where you've been; then later mention that this is a debate and that we have our own opinions.

Come to think of it I've probably been to more places than you've been as a ex-military brat, ex-military and finally as a civilian. Does this make me more qualified than you? Not at all but like you said, everyone has their own opinion.

You posted your opinion and we responded in kind. What you've probably failed to do is realize that the majority of the posts here are people who agree that scum like Royce not only need to be put away but also to be eliminated entirely, if possible.

You may agree that he deserves his punishment but a lot of us also agree that making excuses for your actions carries no water such as Ron Menor or Eliot Spitzer (claiming "no contest", not admitting to guilt, etc.).

We are the ones that are tired of hearing people make excuses and accept with full responsibility in our lives that we make mistakes and own up to it and try to right it as soon as possible (if possible).

With that said, have a better day.

I dug no hole, I posted the facts, if people chose not to read all the posts and not think for themselves, it's not my problem. All that matters to me is I know where I am from, where I have been, and where I am going, I am making a difference. I feel bad for people's ignorance, but I see it all the time and have been many places with the Military and know I have more knowledge about what I am talking about then the ignorant people attacking me and not listening to what I am saying. This is debate and people have their own opinions,
Methinks you doth protesteth too much. LOL

So only YOU have facts and OTHERS just have opinions?!?!?!

too funny. more please.

I AM NOT THERE AND HAVEN'T BEEN FOR 5 YEARS, SO DON'T BLAME ME FOR YOUR COMMUNITY. I JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE JUST GOTTEN HOME FROM AFGHANISTAN FROM FIGHTING FOR YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE THAT OPINION SO STOP ATTACKING ME. WHAT ARE YOU FIGHTING ABOUT NOW? DO YOU EVEN KNOW I SAID HE DESERVES TIME. END OF CONVERSATION!
I case you have forgotten, you are fighting to allow people the right to exercise their freedom of speech. The fact that you don't like it is just too bad. And before you start sniveling, I did 30 years before I retired last year. Some in the Stan, most in Iraq. You don't like the responses you get then be a smarter about who you defend, people are tired of criminals and those who make excuses for them.

Geez I made no excuses for him! I said he is to blame, and that people do make their own choices. I never said that he didn't deserve time, I never said someone else put the gun in his had. I never said it wasn't his fault. I never said he shouldn't be responsible for his won actions! I didn't say your comments weren't appreciated! I did however say that some people posting on here are just attacking me, verbally attacking someone like some people is not the right way to make an opinion now is it? Have you read all the posts obviously not. I hope some of you have a great day, I hope some will think about what I said about the drug problem in Hawaii and make a difference for the better in that community. I just want to say thanks to that former HPD officer, the other people who read more into what I was saying, and the ones who disagreed appropriately.

I beg to differ. You certainly offer quite a few excuses for his violent behavior desite saying he deserved jail time.
He comes from a broken family, he's a foster child. He had it very hard!

To bad no one was there to help him when he was a kid. To bad to many people in Hawaii fall fictim to chrystal meth, like Ruben.

To bad no one helped him when he was starting to struggle at 16 with cocain.

……….HUGE problem of crystal meth that is taking so many of Hawaii's youth like Ruben, and turning them into drug crazed adults who commit heinous crimes.

he is a product of society.
you've blamed is upbringing, no role models, drug use, and society.

that last one is my fav, btw.

i was also a girlfriend of rubens when i was 15 and he was 17. i too was hurt and victimized by him. he had a little bit of a good heart when we broke up, but that obviously dwindled away over the years. ruben did have a horrible drug problem and i thought that i could change him. obviously i couldn't, nothing could. he has a tattoo on his neck that sayd GODS CHILD. he tattooed that when i was with him. my firend asked him one day why he had tattooed that, he said he had to be someone child. my heart goes out to him, but most of all my heart goes out to the people he victimized. i am truley sorry for what this man did to you.

One in a million sperm compete for survival, fight their way to impregnate the egg, and THIS is the outcome/winner? Who "made" him choose to do drugs? Who "made" him decide to lead a life of crime? No one, just himself. Throw away the key; better yet, bring the death penalty to Hawaii and lets ease our economic problems with less thugs being spoiled in prison being taken care of on a daily basis. Fry this guy and assist him in meeting his maker. Let God judge him.

You have a right to your own opinion, as do I so don't attack me. look at your own faults is to say only GOD shall judge and only he has the right. Let he who has no sin cast the first stone. His foster mother is just as much to blame. Like I said he deserves time, I will be the first to say that. I was hurt by him too and so have other people. Get off you high horse, Hawaii has bigger problems then Ruben Royce, like the HUGE problem of crystal meth that is taking so many of Hawaii's youth like Ruben, and turning them into drug crazed adults who commit heinous crimes.
If they are attacking you because you are defending him. He is a predator and a scourge on our community. You condemn people for "judging" Ruben because you say it is not our place to judge. What you are doing is worse. You would forgive him for his sins as if it is your place to forgive. You are not the victim here. You were not the one who was wronged. The passage you are quoting from the bible is very nice. The problem is they were about to stone an adulteress. They were doing this, not to punish her but to test Jesus. It says so in the passage. "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone?" I've never broken into someone's home and held them at gunpoint, terrorizing them and robbing them of their sense of safety in there own home. Stop the touchy feely the criminal is the victim BS and pass me that stone. It really isn't that hard to not do drugs and not victimize people. Bad upbringing and a hard life are just excuses. Life is choices and consequences. Ruben made his choice. He has to live with the consequences. Only god can sit in judgement? Fine. We aren't judging him. We're just holding him responsible for his actions under the laws of man. God can sort it all out when he gets jurisdiction.

Methamphetamine: Crystal methamphetamine (ice) is the drug of choice in Hawaii and is considered by far the most significant drug threat. Per capita, Hawaii has the highest population of ice users in the nation. Experts unanimously blame the high crime rate (predominantly property crimes) in Hawaii on drugs. High purity ice, ranging from 96-99 percent pure, is readily available, and is commonly abused throughout the state. Ice abuse and associated violent crimes, such as domestic abuse, child neglect, hostage situations, and homicides continue to increase throughout the entire island state. Pound quantities of ice arrive from the southwest regions of the U.S. smuggled by couriers, by parcel services, and U.S. Postal Service. Local addicts can purchase ice from a variety of sources, since ounce dealers are abundant throughout the state. Most of the meth laboratories that are seized in Hawaii are small “conversion” laboratories, with analysis of glassware and chemicals revealing that most laboratories are capable of manufacturing ounce quantities.
http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/pubs/states/hawaii20...
Yes. And all the addicts were forced to use ice. At gunpoint. Or their family would be executed. Maybe their dog. Yup. They aren't to blame. It's those bastards that forced them to become addicted to this awful drug. They had no say in the matter. It wasn't a choice. They're the real victims. Baloney.

I knew Ruben, we used to kick it, smoke and party, do petty stuff. He was a normal cool guy when he was sober. He got too deep and made some messed up choices. He used to ask me to go with him on some scores, but i wasnt into that action and thats why im here and he's not. he knows what he did was wrong and hes facing up to what he done. by the way he's priors arent violent crimes so the 3 strike thing dont mean nothing. His priors are car thefts. UCPV. And no one mentioned that he used to sell coke to josh halloway and party with him. It wasnt a random thing that he went to josh's house. Ruben asked me if i wanted to go party at josh's house before but i never went. anyway he did the crime, hes doin the time, let it be already and if he gets paroled early and changes his life, then good for him. Anyway peace.

Look,
I've talked to Ruben for almost a month now. Do I believe he's sorry about what he has done. Hell fuckin' yeah i do. No one has the right to judge him like this. He's one of the sweetest guys I have EVER met. I really hope he does get out soon. I really like him a lot. I don't think he'd do any of that again in all honesty. Don't callin' me gullible because i'm really not. It's just a gut feeling and I listen to what my gut tells me. He's not perfect but there really isn't a person that is. Before you start judging him look at the lies y'all live in.
