Is Christmas Holiday a day to fight about?

I have a Christian friend who finds Joel Osteen inspirational, which is what brought me here. I'd like your opinion on something...
My friend believes that the Christmas holiday belongs to Christians and should only be celebrated by Christians. And that if enough Christians band together and fight to keep non-Christians from celebrating the Christmas holiday, then further serious deterioration of Christmas on a larger social level could be avoided.
How you do feel/think about this?
- Does the Christmas holiday belong to Christians and anyone else should be prevented from gathering together with their families and friends on the Christmas to exchange gifts, etc?
- Is Christmas a day to fight about?
When you answer, if you happen to think of anything from Joel's sermons which might also address these questions, please include it. But if you don't, that's ok. Your answer will be much appreciated in any case.
Thanks so much!
