While it is quite heartbreaking for anyone battling the disease of addiction, Baldwin's $50,000 a month rehab stay only highlights the great healthcare divide which exists in this country. Why not follow addicts who can't afford rehab, who must fight insurance for every second of an inpatient stay, or who have to cold turkey the effects of withdrawal without benefit of medical attention at all. Guess these stories just aren't as sexy, huh?

I used to hang out with Danny Baldwin. Oddly enough he was not much of a partier in his early days. I was shocked by what I saw on Primetime last night. That is not the Danny I knew.

I wish him all the best in his recovery. He deserves to have a clean life. He is very talented and would not like to see his abilities wasted. I enjoy his art.

What a bag of wind. I must have missed him at the Oscars and other award shows, he was probably in rehab at the time.
I guess that this was his way of paying for the hikes in the Malibu woods and finding a new girlfriend to father yet another child.
All in all he's a better actor than I thought he was - at least on Primetime.

He claimed that Speilberg compared him to gary Cooper??? In what alternate universe?? He's an ok actor but doesn't hold a candle to 90% of hollywood actors as he said last night.
This guy looked to blame anyone but himself for his behavior. I wish him luck on his battle. But regardless of what was said last night and medical claims drug abuse is not a disease you light the pipe and put it to your own lips folks!! Cancer,Lukemia,Diabetes....the se are diseases.

Yes i agree, i watched that whole thing last night and thought to myself, how the hell can a guy like Baldwin get real with his addiction, if he's staying in a place that looks like a vacation getaway. Baldwin should have done his recovery in a no nonsense facility around everyday people. I think these Rich folks/celebs think their pampering should be included in a recovery program, as we have seen time and again, it does not hit home with these people when they go to these over priced, phoney, Fantasy type places. They need to be around everyday people that our suffering as well, take away all their damn toys,cell phones included, make them have to bunk with a human being that lives in the real world, maybe then we will start to see these people come out healthy, with a real understanding of not only themselves but their addictions. JMO

I am from Massapequa, New York and grew up with the Baldwins....I use to go the pools with Stephen!! In any event, I applaud his commitment to stay sober..it's not easy, I'm sure

1st of all wake up it is not a disease but a choice. You got to go out and get the cocaine or the alchol. Duh? America stop the crap.Disease is Autism that hits kids, they don't choose it or diabetes, not cocaine. These hollyweirds are goona make me committ hari kari. Forget paris, brittany and lindsay all sluts, and the men too.

Mr. Baldwin is a man who will do anything he has to do to get what he wants to benefit himself. In my opinion, having been a former client, Renaissance Malibu is a SCAM and a facility that served TOTAL preferential treatment to Mr. Baldwin. He was allowed day passes when other clients had to meet certain requirements and he was chauffered by the owner himself to go shop in town.
Having now seen his interview on Larry King also, one caller should have asked if Daniel was compensated by Renaissance for mentioning them so many times. He did not have to pay the high $50,000 price tag we all did. I think he had an agreement for a FREE stay as long as he did these interviews and plugged free advertisement for this rehab. Ask if any of his therapists are still there. If not why? This facility has some many problems. Dr. Gatlin, unlike what Mr. Baldwin said, does not interact on professional one on one therapeutic relationship with clients.. Well at least not when I was there. He stayed in his office basically and tended to administrative stuff. His relationship with Jo, the chef. Staff are required and signed contracts agreeing NOT to have ANY contact with clients for TWO years. I doubt that occurred since Jo is pregnant and only quit when she found out. It disgusts me to see Mr. Baldwin advertising for a place like Renaissance Malibu when he may be compensated for doing so (free stay) and/or was given preferential treatment. I wonder who is paying for his stay at the UPSCALE SOBER LIVING CONDO IN MALIBU?

In addition, it is my opinion that if you want REAL help and are serious, Renaissance Malibu is NOT the place to do it. It is gross how celebrities like Mr. Baldwin would use his celebrity status, whatever left he has, to mislead addicts who need real help from a real facility with the right tools and staff to help them. He is a charmer and talker. Guess that;s how he gets away with all the crap he has gotten away with....

Every negative person writing on this website needs to read the book,'Addict in the Family,' by Beverly Conyers. It is a book about sorrow, deception, and pain. The book is for families coping with addiction because it is a family disease. We need more TV shows like this on alcoholism, and drug addiction, so I applaud Daniel Baldwin and thank him very much for sharing his story. I am a mother of two sons' that are drug addicts, so Daniel Baldwin your story gives me hope, comfort, and understanding. My best to you with much love, and luck in the future!
