I DVRed Castle and watched it twice and had the same reaction. In a pilot/premiere episode featuring two lead characters (male/female or buddies) there has to be chemistry or the show is lost. There was more chemistry between Castle and his mother and Castle and his daughter, than between him and Det. Beckett.

There was also too much telling, not enough showing and such a lack of emotion from any of the characters I wondered why I should bother watching this show.

And the number one reason why I will probably not watch it again was that Castle's reason for solving the crime was to rid of his writer's block. As Det. Beckett said, he did not care about the murder victims so why was he there?

That is a sad premise for any procedural show.
