The gay people/couples I know, do all of the above. That is not announcing sexuality.
this is a ridiculous assertion. listen... i have a gay friend named rick. rick has been in the monogamous same sex relationship for 4 years now. due to where he lives he can't be legally married, and they have no children. whose family will he put a photo of on his desk? what he has is a photo of their dog, in stead.

when they walk down the street can they hold hands, or walk with their arms around each other without drawing stares from the crowds? can they kiss good bye at the train without someone making some sort of stupid comment either to or about them? if they were a male/female couple they wouldn't even draw a glance, but as they are two men, everyone seems to believe that it's their business.

Why can't they have kids? Oh wait, they're two dudes...
PS - Last time I've checked, I don't think there's a non-gay parade being thrown every year to celebrate how non-gay people are. Nor are there Olympics for non-gay people only.

Has nothing to do with that vag being out of the office; however, it does have to do with drawing comparison.

it has to do with the fact that they are not permitted to adopt since they aren't legally married where they live. that's all.

and yes, there certainly are many 'non-gay' parades. would you like to comment on st. patric's day, thanksgiving day, new years day parades, carnaval and mardi-gras? they are all non-gay events which celebrate how straight people live. where've you been?

why should the olympics be discriminatory?

You Sir/Madam deserve to be shot.

Please explain to me what do all those HOLIDAYS (for most part) have to with one being gay/straight?!

ST. PADDY is traditionally IRISH holiday which celebrates Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland.

THX-GIVING is US holiday which celebrates Puritans killing the Indians (Natives) after the Indians offered them turkey. In other words, it is a time to give thanks to God for the harvest and express gratitude to others for one's many blessings.

NEW YEAR'S typically celebrated as the end of a period of remembrance of a particular passing year.

CARNEVAL/MARDI GRASS although not all cultures celebrated it, is typically considered as a celebration prior to fasting season of Lent.

How "straight" people live? You moron.

GAY-PARADE is just that: parade for gays--celebrating how one is gay. There is no such parade for married/straight couples (and there should not be one)!

"Why should the Olympics be discriminatory?"

They should not be and they are not; however, by making GAY ONLY OLYMPICS is what makes them discriminatory. Hypocrite.

is there a gay only olympics?

st. patrick never drove anything from ireland other than maybe a horse and buggy, and the parade honouring him doesn't allow gays to march in it as a contingent... all it celebrates is drinking green beer and pissing on your shoes... it's a straight holiday.

did you actually read what you wrote about thanksgiving? was it to celebrate the harvest and killing the indians for giving them turkeys?

have you ever gone to new orleans during mardi-gras, or to the carnaval parades? they are a religious holiday celebrating straight sex.

the gay pride parades are a celebration of fun. they are attended and, in fact, marched in by probably more straight people than gays. have you ever been to one? the last one in são paulo was celebrated by more than 4,000,000 people, most of which were entire straight catholic congregations including the children and the elderly... and most of them were nude, dressed in ass-less chaps, or feathers. all the restaurants and hotels within the parade venue had their entire work force serving the public either nude or topless for the entire week before the parade, the week during the parade and afterward, as well. does that sound as though it's only for gays to show off being gay? you are extremely naive.

Actually, they are. There have been a number of women Olympians who have always lived as women and believed they are women, who have recently been disqualified for failing genetic testing. This only penalizes women athletes however.

Although there are GAY GAMES, there are no gay Olympics or straight only Olympics. You know darn well if there was such thing as STRAIGHT ONLY GAMES, GLIB would be all over it.

THX-GIVING:
You obviously missed the sarcasm there. The pilgrims took Indian's land even after they fed the them (they basically survived the winter and the existence in this "new land" thanks for the Indians). It is however, celebrated for harvest; therefore, I do not see how is this "straight-only" holiday? Are you saying only non-gay families celebrate Thx-giving?

MARDI-GRAS:
If you read my post, I did state it's different for each culture. Have you ever been to Mardi Gras in France or Italy, for example? It's not "open" as the one in Rio, but where do you think Mardi Gras came from? The whole purpose of Mardi Gras and/or Carnival is to feast and act wild before the somber days of Lent.

ST. PADDY:
So gays are not allowed to march. Given its Catholic origins, I see why this holiday would be discriminatory. However, I disagree it's straight only holiday/parade.

Which brings me back to your GAY PARADE:
You stated it's a celebration of fun. FUN. I'm not Irish and do not go to parades (I actually find them quite boring, just like Macy's Thx-giving parade); however, I do go out on St. Paddy's and have fun. I also know for a fact it "celebrated" by gays as well. What I am arguing is that heterosexuals and/or married couples do not have a HETEROSEXUAL PARADE so why do you need to have GAY PARADE? Why can't you call it "A DAY OF FUN" or "FUN PARADE"? And I would also argue it is not a celebration of fun, but rather, the fight for equal rights -- which is politically oriented. You mentioned "all the restaurants and hotels within the parade venue had their entire work force serving the public either nude or topless for the entire week before the parade, the week during the parade and afterward, as well" -- my question to you -- were you in an actual parade? I highly doubt it. You and the vast majority of the people do your own celebration on the site in the spirit of the parade. And to me, that is not any different than one celebrating St. Paddy's on the sidelines.

It penalizes women athletes since only those persons who either changed their sex or have raised testosterone level are and who compete in the games are women. Which brings me to my point: I do kind of agree with this issue since it has to do with fairness of the games. I am not saying men are better than women in sports; however, it is a fact (DUE TO NATURE.. relax) men are "stronger" than women. If you compare the fastest male swimmer to the fastest female swimmer, who wins? Same goes for running. I do not know of any women (at least for now) who could beat Bolt -- do you? Therefore, to me it would be disadvantageous to women who compete against those women who had changed their sex or have raised level of testosterone.

Actually, this was a similar issue with US v GER woman's swimming in 70s. The German women were unknowingly given steroids which increased their testosterone levels and were able to beat the US and get x-amount of gold medals. The dosage were so severe, one woman actually became a man (might sound like sci-fi, but Google it if you don't believe me). So let me ask you this, if this woman (a man now) competed against you in a sport, do you think it would be a fair competition?

yes, i missed the sarcasm. sorry.

and no, sadly i didn't get to participate in the parade, because i had to stay at home with our 4 year old son who had a sore throat that weekend, although my wife and our 8 year old daughter marched along with my mother in law and father (both age 72 and quite conservative) in law and a couple of her uncles, one of which is a pastor. all the local television news channels carried full video coverage of the event, however, so i, at least, got to watch much of it and saw my daughter wave and throw kisses as she passed the camera.

marching also, were several close friends of mine who also happen to be clergy from various churches. the catholic priest from the catholic church in our neighborhood marched in the buff along with most of his parish. they had a great time, too. another elderly woman that lives across the street from us marched wearing her butt floss bikini bottom only.

So where is it fair for intersexed athletes to compete?? Only in gay games! If there is such a thing, I don't know.

In the summer of 1994 New York City hosted the "Gay Games". I don't know if it's a yearly
thing or not though.
