Roles expanding for short actors

Are you kidding? Many Hollywood actors are short of stature, so to speak. Currentt stars less than the so-called median height of 5ft, 10in are Al Pacino and Dustin Hoffman. Those two come to mind right away. Al Pacino has played a tough guy most of his acting career. Didn't matter that he was "short." It's not a big trick to look tall for the camera. One way is to shoot with a short lens.(no pun intended) With a short focal length lense of, say 20mm, everyone compresses in the frame. Locate the camera either high or low, if you're using a normal lens. Go for closeups with a long (focal length) lens.

Regarding short actors in earlier movies, some very talented notables were Allan Ladd and Mickey Rooney.

There were and are now a great many women actors, who are around 5ft 2 or less. Can you name a few?

There are so many great actors who are considered to be "short" or below 5'7'' tall. There is Al Pacino at 5'5'', Dustin Hoffman at 5'6'', Elijah Wood at 5'6'' as well, Daniel Radcliffe at 5'5'', Michael J Fox at 5'4'', Sean Astin at 5'5'', Kevin Zegers at 5'7'' and a very long etcetera. Height has nothing to do with brains, beauty or talent.It certainly didn't stop Napoleon from conquering the world or Einstein from being one of the most important Scientists we ever met.

I won't even bother make a list of all the actresses who are below the average of 5'4'' tall...

Danny DeVito, Al Pacino (who is 5 '7 actually), Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Gary Coleman, Lil Wayne, Sisqo, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Tobey Mcguire, and Drake Bell are some other short celebrities, all of which are below the height of 5 '8.

Success has nothing to do with height. ;)
