'In Session' coverage shifts

Sep 19, 2009 Full story: Entertainment 27

If it's Thursday, this must be the mailbag. . . . Q: I am a fan of a truTV program package called ''In Session.'' The other day I heard host Jami Floyd say that in November, they would be going off the air.

I only heard that the current anchors will go off the air. In Session trials coverage will continue with new anchors, since the production will shift to Atlanta, Georgia, with new anchors/hosts.

I am so disappointed. I really dont know how they will find someone as intelligent as Jack. Ashley Banfield was wonderful, she learned along with the public which made it a memorable experience.
I dont even know what to say. Words escape me.

I watched it this morning and am very disappointed. It felt or at least sounded like Nancy Grace or Jane Velendez; too much souped up emotion for me. And behind the host were moving graphics, it was all too much. One thing I appreciated about the show was the down to earth-ness of it, and the spontaneous dialogue. Jean, in the morning, seemed very scripted but then towards the end of the show she was using a more natural voice. I really think they will lose viewers. I liked the last guy Ryan, but not the first, very hyped up and def not Jack Ford. Lastly, I'll bet the move was motivated by money -- huge mistake TruTv

Another corporate stupid decision. Court TV was superior to TruTV but at least we had In Session with Jack Ford, Ashleigh and Jami Floyd. Does Ted Turner ever ask the audience our opinion? Ryan Smith is a nice, young guy but no Jami Floyd.
He just claimed that the new team on TV is "the best legal team"! Hardly.
The explanation for the move was a coverup-something about trying to keep all of CNN's staff/programming in Atlanta.
When Court TV became TruTV I wonder how many viewers bailed. Again trying to appeal to the less intellectual Americans.
Hopefully, the smart networks will scoop up all 3 anchors quickly. It's a huge CNN loss.

We lost four great anchors Jack Ford, Lisa Bloom, Ashley Banfield and Jami Floyd They were the ones that made the shows what it is today. I'm saden To see them all gone. I'll miss them all.

In Session has gone from the sublime with Jack, Ashleigh, and Jami to the ridiculous with these present anchors. Whoever these "powers" are that put these anchors on have "risen to their highest level of incompetence." What are they thinking? Obviously they aren't capable of thinking when they take one of the highest rated cable shows and do such a lousy job in changing things.
I will tune in every so often to see what trials are on but I'll never listen to these incompetent anchors! My remote will switch to another program when the anchors are on. Sad to see.

Went back to IN SESSION yesterday and they had Vinnie and Rikki Kleiman on. Much improved! However, it sounds like Rikki is only temporary. If anyone like Ryan Smith comes back I'm out of there for good. Why they ever changed from Jack...Ashleigh...and Jami is way beyond my comprehension but at least Vinnie and Rikki present an intelligent and comprehensive view of the cases going on. Time will tell if it again becomes worth watching.

What is Turner Broadcasting trying to turn this show into, another ridiculous reality show. In the past, Court TV was presented as an intelligent, well directed, unscripted, and informative legal news show, by without a doubt some of the best presenters in the business. Were none of the talented anchors willing to move to Atlanta? The recent return of Rikki Kleiman was the best change this network has made to the new show. Hope she is staying on , the show needs it.

Watched the segment with Rikki Kleiman (the only segment worth watching) and she said "goodbye" and hopes she will be visiting us soon. I suppose this means that Ryan Smith (or whatever his name is) will be back on. Will check on Monday but if he is then there is no segment worth watching. This change of anchors is a good example of "the dumbing down of America" which Turner broadcasting is intending to do. What sort of people are running Turner broadcasting? Dumb heads, is the answer.

It appears the powers that be at the network are trying to make the show more "energetic". I also miss the previous anchors. The dignity & "gravitas" of the show is now missing, particularly with the younger host. Not all of us need "entertained" at all times--some of us like calmer, intellectual discussions of the issues of the cases. I also feel the moving graphics are very distracting. I find myself watching less, & I was a huge fan. I'm glad Jean & Beth are still around!

I am a fan who goes back to the Cynthia McFaddin and Jack Ford days of old - I tape your shows! What has happened? I have been disappointed for years with the loss of hours and many incredibly intelligent shows. However, I thought Jack Ford and Jamie Floyd - and yes, even Ashleigh Banfield (after a year or so) were wonderful. Is this the end?
A sad viewer!

I am among the long-time Court TV fans who used to tape a whole day of coverage from 9:00 AM til the tape ran out and watch it faithfully. I learned so much about the greatness of our justice/legal system and the amazing thought process that goes into the framing of our laws. When they cut down to only six hours of coverage, I was upset. When they turned the evening line-up into dumb and dumber, re-naming it TruTv (even the truncated spelling is indicative of the pandering to illiteracy I find deplorable in contemporary life) I stopped all primetime viewing. With the departure of Lisa Bloom, Jack Ford and the others, I have only Jean Casares and Beth Karas to look forward to. Watching the decimation of what was once a truly profound and educational viewing experience makes me very sad. Very sad indeed. And when the three-times-louder ads for the TruTV programs blast through, I cannot wait to hit the "mute" button on my remote. Horrible, horrible, most horrible.

I can't even watch this anymore it's totally stupid Whoever made the decision to get rid of Jamie Ashleigh and Jack they are the ones that need to be let go and bring those 3 back with an apology cause the ratings will drop I am 100% positive they have dropped already...BIG BAD MOVE TRUTV if you want to save the show I suggest you listen to the audience and bring back the anchors that we liked watching cause the men you have on the air now just PLAIN SUCK

I absolutely hate the new format and really don't like the new anchors. I used to love the old Court TV (now TruTV), particularly Jack Ford and Jami Floyd and their wisdom and insightful comments. Even Ashleigh's absence is missed and she always made it clear that she wasn't a lawyer. This is now one long, low-rent version of the former quality shows anchored by quality people analysts. I liked the old anchors and learned a lot about the law. The new version has no real substance. While it's nice to see Vinnie Politan every, I don't care for Ryan Smith. He's eager but has no wisdom and no insight. I can't even tell if he's a lawyer. I would prefer to see Jean and Beth in the anchor chairs so that at the very least we can have a bit of continuity and some knowledgeable people at the desk.

And they wonder why our teens act the way they do. TruTv is a perfect example of men running a TV network with a sophomoric intelligence and no need to know if they are making a difference in even one person's life. We are getting rude, mean and entitled adults now in real life all around us because they are raised on this garbage. I know networks are getting rid of anything that costs a dime so soap operas are replaced with game shows (actually better language for kids), but I also find that as an adult female, home during the day now and then, they seem to think no one above an 8th grade education exists. It is truly sad that even in this day and age no one fights to be the best. Brain food is so hard to find. I am betting InSession will disappear eventually, too. The new anchors are okay..and we need to give them time...if TruTv decides to even keep the show. Only two hosts seems strange..a long time to be on TV each day. We shall see.
