There are 20 comments on the Newsday story from Jul 9, 2009, titled 'Bruno'. In it, Newsday reports that:

"Bruno" Sacha Baron Cohen's shock-and-ach du lieber follow-up to "Borat," is a miss-or-hit mockumentary aimed at turning another of his "Da Ali G Show" guises into a pop-cultural phenomenon.

What would make this movie better would be if John Tavares was in it. He could save the Islanders and add an extra star to the 2.5 this guy gave.

Just goes to show that any idiot with a great agent can get a movie in these horrible, horrible times.

When will the entertainment world start taking risks and create art and entertainment again.

This is just another imbeccile like Jack Black, Paulie SHore, Adam Sadler and the like.

Can we have some real movies and actors again.

I am so sick of formula movies. Hollywood deserves to go belly up.

His comedy may appear to be superficial slapstick, but it has many more dimensions than the comedy of Black, Sandler and definitely Shore.

Cohen is not so much the center of attention as are the people he interacts with. Think more along the lines of expanding on Andy Kaufman's style of comedy.

And this supposed idiot (Cambridge University slum) with an agent made a fortune with "Borat" so he hardly needed to work hard to get a second movie.

Sandler is an idiot, playing an idiot. This might be the only reason he does it as well as he does.

This type of "humor", plays solely off stereotypes and stupidity.

I'm sure such appeals to some individuals, but it is not serious anything. It's just made to make money. That's not comedy.

Besides you can't enjoy comendy that is constantly pushing religious garbage on an audience that came to laugh. Sandler is the worst in this department. Shameless this little worm is....

I think Baron Cohen is a bigot plain and simple. He's not a gay guy making fun of gays. He is an orthodox jew making fun of middle easterners (Borat and Ali G) and gays (Bruno) by depicting them as ignorant, offensive and clueless. No one in Hollywood would think Cohen was funny if he was an arab comedian playing a stereotyped jew for outrageous laughs.

I think Roy is right. I also think that Baron Cohen hides behind the convenient smokescreen of "Anyone who calls me a bigot is an antiSemite." Jews can be bigoted too. More specifically, I believe that Mr. Baron Cohen has psychopathic personality. Read up on the psychiatric literature, and you should see my point.

But Cowardly Americoon's comment really was antiSemitic.
