You've misunderstood my point.

I wasn't saying your opinions weren't valid.
I was saying that the things you are saying are not opinions.

The things you say are basically name calling and rummor speading.

Case in point: "If I want to say David Caruso is an *____* I can say it."

Yes, you can say something like that. But, that is NOT a good example of an opinion type sentance.

I can say "If I want to say David Caruso is a good actor, I can." That is a statement. That is telling the reader that you have a right to say whatever you want to. With me so far?

But if I say "David Caruso is a good actor and desearves an Emmy for his efforts." That is an opinion.

I don't know how much more clear I can get.

On a side note, I've never pointed out any spelling errors to you that I remember. If I have, I should't have. Everyone makes mistakes.

That is an opinion.
And yes, that makes it valid.

I happen to disagree.

I'll be pulling for him to earn an Emmy at least once in his career. But if it doesn't happen I won't be to terribly broken up about it. I don't need a committee to tell me who's a good actor.
But I do admit, it's a nice recognition for the ones who do get one.

OK. BUt I noticed he gets nominated EVERY YEAR by CBS and doesn't even make it into the FINALS (again every year). Maybe not broken up but I reckon he's disappointed.
CBS is required to put up names as possible nominees. I agree his work on CSI Miami (thus far) probably would preclude a nomination.

I think he's smart enough to understand his options;

1. Do Great Work (with great scripts, which he doesn't have) and hope for a nod, knowing he would be bucking the system (they're still angry about NYPD Blue) or,

2. Ceate an image to be remembered, a cult hero if you will.

It appears he's already made his decision.

Yes, he probaly is dissapointed, but then again, so am I to some extent.
But I have to side with Katie on this point too. There is only so much you can do with a bad script. Even if you did change the lines, if it's a bad script it's a bad script. David, I believe does the best he can with what he gets.
I think he does a good job too.

But I can't really comment on that. I don't think the scrips are cheezy. Just some of them seem to be poorly written. Like, they were scrambling to get it done on time and it showed in the lack of depth to those particular episodes.

I believe he knows. It's tough to buck the system, especially when you have a loyalty to the people who gave you another chance.

He's learned a difficult lesson about the rants and tirades on the set. I think he's been determined not to repeat the NYPD episode.

I agree he could do better. Perhaps he's so into being a good dad (which he obviously is) that he's become too content with the status quo.

The "fire in the belly", the passion, is gone and I, for one, miss it. It made him a great actor, instead of a good one.

The writing seems to have gone downhill since Steve Maeda left.

Agreed. He produced a few great episodes. I think he is producing "Lost" now. Or has.
Yes, among other things. I'm not a fan of "Lost", have never watched more than 10 minutes so I can't comment on it. I do know, though, that Maeda was a great asset on CSI Miami, and Ann Donahue should leave the writing to others who know their craft.

There's very little originality out there.

However, if I was AD I probably wouldn't have made that statement. It smacks of plagiarism or at least the accusation.

#55 Aug 25, 2007
I don't agree. Plagiarism, or the fear of it, is a huge part of their productions.

That kind of an accusation can ruin a perfectly wonderful day.

She could be buying books about forensics so that the show can be as acccurate as it can get given the time alloted for each show.

You know for reference, not because she wanted to copy ideas.

I thought Liz Devine's job was to verify the accuracy of the forensics.

I think that's the problem. She has several degrees and was a criminalist for years (like 10 or more) so she was SUPPOSED to be acting as advisor on forensics on all the CSI's.

But now she's busy writing and producing; don't know if any of them have a new forensics expert on board. It would appear they do not.

I haven't seen a lot of Season 5, just parts. Again, I'm usually on the computer while it's on, but there hasn't been much.

I'm not into forensics, don't look for nor would I recognize the forensic errors (unless they're very obvious) but those that watch for them say their accuracy has declined.

No, Especially the die hard fans criticize. The casual fan doesn't care enough.

Good grief; reading back over this thread gives the appearance that I was responding to myself. Might someone else have been deleted a while back?
