SHULL CLEARED OF CHILD-MOLESTING CHARGE
Everett Dwayne Shull, questioned in the abduction and slaying of April Marie Tinsley, was released from jail yesterday after being acquitted of an unrelated charge of child molesting. Shull, 34, had been in the Allen County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Though never officially called a suspect, he is one of five men from whom blood and hair samples have been taken for comparison with those found on Tinsley's body. In yesterday's case in Allen Superior Court,...

MORE TINSLEY CASE DNA SAMPLES SENT TO LAB More samples from the body of April Marie Tinsley have been sent to a Maryland lab, where DNA tests are being conducted in an attempt to pinpoint her killer. Deputy Prosecutor Michael McAlexander said yesterday partial results of samples examined by Cellmark Laboratories fail to include or exclude as suspects any of those whose samples were studied. And an explanation of the process by a Cellmark official suggests they might be having trouble extracting the DNA from Tinsley or samples...

DNA GIVES NO CLUE IN SEX SLAYING DNA fingerprinting will never be used to determine who raped and killed April Marie Tinsley because no material from which her assailant's DNA could be extracted was recovered from the 8-year-old's body. Tests completed late last week by Cellmark Laboratories of Germantown, Md., failed to turn up any DNA other than Tinsley's, said Chief Deputy Prosecutor Michael McAlexander this morning. McAlexander said the test results neither clear nor implicate...

DNA FINGERPRINTING FAILURE SLOWS PROBE INTO TINSLEY SLAYING With the elimination of any DNA fingerprinting evidence in the April Marie Tinsley homicide, the investigation is stalled. "In short and simple terms, the case is still open, but no one is assigned to it full time," says Master Sgt. Steve Butz, public information officer. "The detectives have gone up and down a couple dead ends probably a lot more than a couple. A lot of leads have been exhausted into frustration, but they are still plugging...

BOWKERS BELIEVE SCENARIO THE SLAIN CHILD'S FAMILY HAS AGREED THE CASE SHOULD BE CLOSED.
A complete lack of physical evidence tying Roy Hensley to Sarah Bowker's murder would have made it "very difficult" to convict him, prosecutors admitted yesterday. But the parents of the murdered 7-year-old said they're still convinced that Hensley, a one-time family friend, committed one of Allen County's most troubling and emotionally taxing unsolved crimes in recent memory. "There was evidence known (by Hensley)...

CASE LAID TO REST 'GRANDPA' PAID TO BURY GIRLS
Roy Hensley paid for part or all of the burials for Sarah Bowker and April Tinsley, two Fort Wayne girls who were molested and killed, Hensley's son said this morning.''He paid for some of it, and had the girls' pictures put on the tombstones," David Hensley, 55, said. "He took me up to their grave sites once" and "showed me where his 'grandkids' were." ...

Cashing in on kids?, A Fort Wayne group formed to locate missing children has raised suspicions about how it brings in money
Since its inception two years ago, APRIL has grown from a grassroots group formed to find a missing Fort Wayne child to a national missing children's organization registered as a non-profit corporation in 11 states. But while founder Gerald Toby claims the organization's aims - to find missing children - have not changed, some say it's being used by professional telemarketers as a golden calf. "I used to work for them,"...

(Hummmmmm...are these people leaving clues around Fort Wayne to keep interest in their organization...Hopefully I'm wrong but this must be considered)

Yes. The inscription reads April Marie Tinsley, and the dates. No image to be seen. If you're using Firefox you can see it much more clearly if you start from the beginning after Shift-+ a couple times.

CASE LAID TO REST SUSPECT IN BOWKER CASE DIED IN 1994 An elderly man Sarah Bowker knew as "Grandpa" is the same man prosecutors now believe molested and killed the 7-year-old nearly five years ago, family members and law enforcement sources say. Sarah's father said yesterday that the same man, former Spencerville resident Roy Hensley, also is suspected of molesting Bowker's half sister, Tara Oberlin, contributing to her suicide 15 months after Sarah was murdered. "It's...

HENSLEY ACQUAINTANCES DON'T BELIEVE HE WAS KILLER, MOLESTER Roy Hensley, a child molester? That's tough to imagine, say several people who knew him. Their comments came in the wake of an announcement yesterday by Allen County authorities that they have closed the investigation of the 1990 molestation and killing of Sarah Bowker by concluding the now-dead Hensley was her killer. He was mild-mannered and congenial - certainly not the kind of man who would harm a young girl, said a woman who did business with him in Spencerville, where...

HENSLEY'S FAMILY WANTS NAME CLEARED THEY'RE TRYING TO RAISE MONEY TO FILE A LAWSUIT. Family members of a man investigators believe molested and killed a Fort Wayne girl nearly five years ago are soliciting donations to defend his name. Former Spencerville resident Roy Hensley has been dead for more than a year, but Allen County prosecutors last week said they have enough evidence to link him to the murder of 7-year-old Sarah Bowker and formally closed the case. IDENTIFYING BOWKER SUSPECT A TRADE-OFF OUR VIEW: PROSECUTORS WERE RIGHT TO GIVE SARAH'S FAMILY AND THE COMMUNITY A SENSE OF RESOLUTION OF HER MURDER CASE. The recent conclusion to the five-year-old Sarah Bowker murder case has left the heirs of the reputed killer angry and bitter, determined to clear the name of a man no longer able to defend himself. But Allen County Prosecutor Robert Gevers' decision to close the case also provided comfort and satisfaction to Bowker's grieving family, and a sense of resolution to a community still troubled by the 7-year-old girl's disappearance and murder in June...

I saw that name before, and I thought it was because of the call-ins of the composite. I think he was the guy that they suspected of the crime, and they tried to make it stick in tandem with a completely different Ohio molestation case. There was inconclusive DNA evidence and two passed polygraphs? Was he part of a satanic group originally under suspicion?

Video Guy,
Thanks for all the info.
I have read through most of it more than once and I am still going back to read more. If RH molested Sarah and Tara, I would suspect he has molested other young girls. I wonder if LE has been able to uncover any more cases of molestation against him. If they did uncover more cases, they may have chosen not to reveal it publicly in order to protect the identity of the victims. My guess is if RH did molest Sarah and Tara there are other young girls that fell victim to his evilness. Also, I wonder what happened to RH's family members trying to clear his name. From what I read, there was not anything mentioned about it after 1995. If it were my family member accused of this heinous crime, I would fight for his innocence to be proven or I would drop the fight once I realized he was indeed guilty.........

Thanks again Video Guy!

Police were searching this morning for the 7-year-old girl who did not return to her Stone Pointe Village home last night. IS SARAH'S DEMISE LINKED TO APRIL'S? A young girl walking home alone in the middle of the afternoon disappears. Police and neighbors conduct a search, which ends tragically when she is found murdered, her body in a drainage ditch. An autopsy performed today confirms that Sarah Jean Bowker died of suffocation after she was sexually assaulted. If it sounds all too familiar, it is. As police today try to unravel the Sarah's murder, comparisons are being made with the April 1988 murder of another first-grader, April Tinsley.
BODY `PLACED' CORONER, POLICE SUSPECT FOUL PLAY IN 7-YEAR-OLD'S DEATH Police were trying today to determine whether someone killed Sarah Jean Bowker and attempted to hide her body in a creek bed thick with underbrush. Fort Wayne Police picked up a resident of the Stone Pointe Village Apartments last night and questioned him about the case. They have not released names of any suspects. Sarah lived in the same apartment complex, northeast of the man's building.
MOLESTED, MURDERED CORONER CONFIRMS GIRL'S GRISLY FATE Seven-year-old Sarah Jean Bowker was sexually molested and suffocated. Allen County Coroner Phillip E. O'Shaughnessy said today it was apparent from the outset that the girl had been molested before she was killed. He could not immediately determine the time of death. An autopsy, begun this morning at Parkview Memorial Hospital, had not been completed, O'Shaughnessy said. Bowker's body was found about 2 p.m. yesterday in about 18 inches of water...

POLICE MUM ON MURDER RESIDENT OF SLAIN GIRL'S APARTMENT COMPLEX QUESTIONED, RELEASED Fort Wayne Police are keeping tight-lipped about any new leads in the Sarah Jean Bowker murder. Four detectives are working full time on the case, with other officers assisting as needed. "We are diligently working to find out who killed Sarah Jean Bowker,'' Capt. James Crawford Jr. said. Police are compiling a profile of the person who molested and suffocated the 7-year-old. Crawford didn't know when it would be completed.

FAMILY LAYS SARAH TO REST On a merciless June afternoon, 100 people sat silently in a brick church, facing a small, white-and-silver casket filled with teddy bears, storybooks and a little girl. Above her at the pulpit stood the Rev. Paul Patton, asking a question that has been on the lips of a city for three days. "The question," Patton said, "is asked: Why?" Why would a 7-year-old so full of life be killed? Why would someone abduct her, molest her and...

SARAH'S KILLER ELUDES POLICE The day after Sarah Jean Bowker was laid to rest, Fort Wayne detectives were still no closer to making an arrest in her molestation and murder. "We don't have any suspects," said Sgt. Keith Butts, Fort Wayne Police public information officer. "We have some good leads, but no suspects." Butts said the four full-time detectives assigned to the case returned from a Father's Day off to desks piled high with tips.
POLICE PURSUE MURDER CLUES The list of those being questioned in the murder of Sarah Jean Bowker was expected to narrow today. Detectives were to interview ``more than a few" people whom tips have pointed to in the death of the 7-year-old. "They (detectives) have several people they want to talk to," said Sgt. Keith Butts, Fort Wayne officer. "Starting today, they will be interviewing them and seeing if they have alibis." He would not say how many people...
