Did Discovery make the right call cancelling American Chopper?

American Chopper is going away after this season, but could there be another show out there to keep the Teutuls on TV? After the surprise of Discovery Channel choosing to cancel American Chopper after a decade on the air, last night's episode made something clear: It is time for it to go.

in my opinion, they were canceled because they are branching out and using the show for personal profit. senior is trying to sell a restaurant chain franchise, and using the discovery channel to do so. junior is trying to sell bicycles and using the show to promote his retail sales. not to mention he is putting together a studio to produce commercials for his clients. this is not about building bikes anymore, its about all the money they have made and incorporating it into the show to make even more money. it seems to me this is a conflict of interest. what happened to building bikes?

I totally agree. I had never really thought about it, but y'all are dead on. Would love to have seen the show loop back around to the way it was when it began... All about the nuts and bolts of building bikes. Maybe that approach just wasn't profitable enough and if that's the case I understand. As for me, I'll miss it.

The real show was the conflict with the Pauls, now it's done and so is the show. The rule in reality TV is do a reality show and kill your family. That's what made the show good. No conflict and they drift into bicycles,.......BICYCLES!! Are you kidding me. The show sucks now. Good time to cancel, good riddance to bad rubbish.

No I enjoyed the show its one of a handful I watch! There are plenty of other shows that should not be on but are. And for the life of me I can't figure out why there still. I'll miss this show.

Loved the show,sorry to see it go. Very few shows on tv that involve technical know how and fabrication. The soap opera to me was an added plus,made things a lot more interesting. I have met most of these guys and have been up to NY to see their shops and was treated very well and always thanked for being a fan. I was taken back and suprised how humble they were. I hope some network or channel has the sense to bring the show back. I don't think I will be watching some scripted fake show about some Amish people walking around with machine guns. Give me a break!!

Anyone could build bikes with the right sponsors. These people are low life idiots and the show sucks. They should have never of had the opportunity. They learned as they went. They won the lottery and blue all the cash. Later

I really enjoyed the old show but without the personal drama. What this showed was how hard it is for family to work together, especially with two head strong people. I hope they all get along better now and wish them well in the future.
