According to the article, it will be done first class.(the artist rending is awful). Seems a sensible enough choice to have a destination to OCC World Headquarters with a restaurant next door. There is not much in the way of restaurants right around there in Newburgh - with apologies to the "Neptune Diner".
In any business, diversity is often a wise choice to ensure revenue flow. OCC is using property they own - plus the attraction of the OCC World Headquarters - to give a second purpose to a visit to their business.
And if the article is correct - 4 additional seasons - OCC should remain very strong for quite some time. But, then again, maybe Tom in Frisco runs his $100M+/yr business in with more wisdom and thus has the ability to predict success or failure.
And, BTW, it will not be biker bar. Sounds like a themed family restaurant.
But, you are entitled to your opinion.

If i lived in America would i go in an OCC family style restaurant probably not, mainly for two reasons and they are reason one i do not like gimmick restaurants were you are paying for the name rather than the food. And the second reason great family style restaurants are ten a penny in America, and i would rather find a traditional old family run diner that has been serving great food for decades, than choose to spend my hard earned cash in a chain restaurant any day of the week IMO.

Really bad time to get into that business. They should have taken time to research the Planet hollywood bankruptcy. Any one who thinks its cool and profitable to own restaurants has never worked, managed or owned one.

The first time you clean a fryer hood at 3:00 AM and oh yea clean a grease trap that smells like a cross between vomit and shit you really loose your passion fast!!!!

Good luck and see them in the head lines when the thing fails.

Why so many predictions of failure? OCC will fail without Sr - they didn't. American Choppers is off the air - their not. This reminds me of Economists. They always mouth off gloom and doom because if they are right, they say "look how I predicted that!". And if they are wrong, and times are good, no one cares what they said.
I don't think this first restaurant will fail do to its location next to OCC. As to the other locations, you are correct in that they will face the tough business that all restaurants face and they could indeed struggle. But bear in mind, many businesses deversify their portfolio and OCC is a business.

Rick, Tom & RW.... You people are loosers. LOOK. American Choppers is on TV ALL over the world. Don't you get it?! TLC which is owned by Discovery just renewed the TV show for four additional years! That is FOUR ... don't think even OZZY O. got that type of TV show success. I love people who come up with all of th negatives without understanding the facts, which were printed I read OCC restaurant will be an "All American" experience, which will be launched in major markets with the added power of a hit TV show. Comparing this to Planet Hollywood is stupid. NO WHERE did the press coverage say it was a "theme" restaurant. BTW: I am a financial planner for one of the largest investment banks in the world -- and last year in the height of the recession lots of restaurant/bar chains experienced double digits growth in earnings and increased in profits. Bad time to "enter the market"??? Give me a break. When did either of you three loosers miss your last meal and beer? Stop knocking others ambitions. SR is a winner regardless of what you think. Let's see .... we are actually "blogging" about this self made man ... who are you all? Does even anyone know your names? I love the concept and will be there to try one of the hundred and sixty five beers on tap! Rev it up boys ... cause ... I am making the hour drive from NYC to go and hang with SR himself. I LOVE the concept .. it is a white hot winner. Good luck guys !!!!!!(A fan of the TV show, SR and a lover of the American dream!!)

Just read Tommy's posting and I totally agree with him. People are jealous because they can't come up with an original idea on their own. SR... ROCK ON my man. I love the restaurant idea. BUT pls come to Chicago sooner vs. later. Keep building those "sick" choppers too. I want one, but can't afford one ..(YET!)... and until I can .. I will eat and drink at your place any day of the week. Food. Beer. Bikes and Ladies. Damn straight !!!

Tommy, are you refering to me as RW? If so, I am quite confused. I am a big proponent of Sr. and of OCC. I stated the restaurant was a good idea. As far as I know, I am one of the few in this forum that has traveled with Sr and know him on a more personal level. And I really like him.

So I am confused if I am the RW you reference.

I suppose I like Sr and Steve and OCC so much since I was actually on the show, designed a bike with OCC, and worked in the shop with them side by side during the build (well, in all fairness, I was the engineer that did the least amount of real work - Steve/Sr would be glad to point that out).

I also have stated numerous times that Sr (and realizing more each day that Steve also) is a very smart business man. And they all work extremely hard each day. They have character!

So, Tommy, I must assume you either meant someone else or just got confused. I am pretty sure I am not a "looser" (did he mean "loser"?. I will allow the financial planner that one as a typo.)

For the record, I think I know who I am. And Sr knows who I am. And my name was on the show, So, by your logic, I must be someone.

And, finally, I am a teetotaler. So, no beer for me. But I will be up in Newburgh on another build in couple of weeks. If you come up, I will buy you one.

I think OCC should make a theme park with a roller coaster and water slides and a mini-golf course.... they should cater to all walks of life, bikers and families... this country needs more fun... there still seems to be people out there with money to spend and i'm not one of the fortunate but it doesn't mean the rest of the world can't have a life... plus Mikey can walk around and make people laugh and greet everyone...
i'd go to a park if by chance i might see Mikey and shake his hand and tell him how much he makes life funnier... just make it fun.... we need more fun, not gloom and doom...

I dont get it either. Just a lot of Negitive people either jealous or spitting sour grapes becasue of Jr.

The Restaurant should stand on it's own merit and have nothing to do about the show. It should be judged as a restaurant and not a Teutel Go Round.

I wish there was one close to me, I would try it for sure.

Anyone know if/when this will finally open? I've been looking it up on Google since last summer, haven't seen any more recent articles. I think it's a great idea, and I'm looking forward to it!

Let me guess. They will get the food in pre-made and just assemble it at the restaurant and claim it as their own creation. That seems to fit the trend with O.C.C.
