I have a 4 year old granddaughter with Down Syndrome so I know first hand what my daughter has to deal with each day with Kaylee. There are varying degrees of physical and mental issues with children with Downs so what exactly Gov. Palin's son's needs are make a huge difference in the amount of "extra time" needed with her son. Gov. Palin also has a husband who seems to be very involved in his children's lives and that also makes a huge difference as well as older children to help within the family.
As far as should she be home more with her children and not be on the ticket I would imagine when all is said and done after the election, if she becomes VP, this job wouldn't be anymore work than the position she now holds as govenor.
Personally, I would not want to, nor did I, work full time when my children were little and i think it is very important for children to have their parents around to nuture etc. But---I also believe that anyone can do anything when you have people around to support you and you do some juggling---I suspect Gov. Palin will be able to figure a way to do this.
Comments like this one made about women and parenting are offensive and hurtful. A woman can certainly be a wonderful mother AND a working person. Shame on the people responsible for this thinking.
PS--If you really want to look into Gov. Palin's mothering ability, look at the fact that she decided to give birth to a child with Down Syndrome. 90% of babies with Downs are aborted!! These children are truly a gift from God and a ray of light in this sometimes very dark world. I hope that your news agency will someday soon do a report on downs and the incredible things these amazing people can and do achieve.
PSS I am actually an Obama supportor but felt this issue was too important not to defend Gov. Palin and comment.
