Of course Chuckie. You understand the political maneuvering by Rahm Emanual, another of your tribe. Put a Hispanic up for a contentious position and dare the opposition party to challenge her. When they do, for very legitimate reasons.... shout racism and attempt to alienate Republicans and Hispanics, the largest racial identity group.
The sleazy Democratic identity politics will work with the same mindless lemmings that voted for the messiah in the first place, but the intelligent voters will recognize that someone who makes policy from the bench is a bad choice for America, and a deliberate political maneuver.

When Bush 43 sent Alberto Gonzales to the senate for confirmation of Attorney General, weren't the Republican doing, in essence, what you claim?...

Why is a news story drawing possibl politcal conclusions? This is editorial or commentary page stuff, not front page news.

"Any Republican effort to block Sotomayor's confirmation could be risky for a party still reeling from last year's elections and struggling to gain back lost ground with Hispanics, the fastest-growing part of the population and one that is increasingly active politically."

"Lost ground with Hispanics" because most Republicans believe LEGAL immigrants deserve a piority over illegal immigrants? No, lost-ground because the Democrats and their media partners demonized and mischaracterized this belief as racist.

Now we can be SURE she's no good. He wouldn't support her if she didn't want to deprive us of our constitutional rights so this is a very bad sign!

Chuckie ought to look in his state first at how the dems have destroyed New York. Years and years to only "think" about what to do with the WTC site as New Jersey takes all that business and revenue. New York needs change, but unfortunately, too many here living off the fat of the overtaxed taxpayers. My point? Chuckie shouldn't be telling anybody what to do.

In your face, Schumer. You epitomize all that's wrong wrong in our system.
Have you no shame? As a political opportunist and party hack you should understand why the opposition will "Bork" this candidate. Enjoy the ride while you can.

She has made racial comments in the past. I do not believe this was a good nomination other than the President wants to get more Latino votes in the next election.

Lets get her in quick before we take a good look at what she has done and where she stands..... This process
should take time... What's worse is if you don't approve of her your a racist
We have lost our way for many years now
if she's the best person for the job fine, But to be afraid to block someone by race
is crazy!

Schumer, as always, is full of equine excrement. If what comes out of his mouth could be harnessed and burned it could power the whole of the down state and save us a bundle here on LI.

It appears the Democrats are prepared to play the race card, what a surprise.

Schumer wants her Liberal activist track record ignored, and to have her appointed base on her race only.

In her own words, "I make decisions based on my feelings, and my ideology, not on the Constitution,or the rule of law"

The Liberal media template is already cast, she should be appointed solely on the base of her race, and any who oppose that will be labeled a racist.

Why should Judge Sotomayor be treated any differently than shal lwe say Justice Roberts. The lady will of couse be confirmed but she as a proponent of that horror called abortion that in my opinion is most unfortunate

This is the same Chuckie, who after listening to the hearings for Chief Justice Roberts, voted against Roberts confirmation due to his(Schumer's) feeling that Roberts would overturn past decisions. Forget that the hearings produced no evidence of such. But Chuckie knows best. Good thing he's not on the jury.

If Chuckie is/was so concerned about overturning past decisions, he should do some research and see that it is the so-called "liberal" justices that overturn past decisions and overtly expand their decisions.
"Conservative" justices are more restrained in overturning past decisions(stare decisis), and narrow interpretation.

So for Schumer to be consistent to the principles he has stated before; then he would have to vote against a "liberal" justice.

Good luck on that happening
Chuckie's motto
"If it's not good for the democratic party, then it's not good for America"
