Another non issue from the right. PBS has the only decent programming on television. If PBS is destroyed there will be nothing for intelligent educated people to watch! Sadly most americans are content to sit on their fat azzez and watch american idiot and the kardashians! Why do rethugs hate educated people so much?

Next week Kermit will become an anti child soldier activist and then get caught on video masturbating in public. The day's words will be "involuntary" and "commitment."

Next month Miss Piggy will suspect Beaker of re processing uranium to weapon grade levels, and attach a magnetic bomb to his iPad case. The day's words will be "preemptive" and "Zionist."

If the clip is accurate, and not dubbed over, that did seem kinda strange to have in the show.

But it's hard to tell. You don't even see the muppet mouthing the statement. It could have been someone putting their own sound over that last part.

I'm a bit suspicious. But I've never heard a muppet discuss politics on Sesame Street.

There are only two places that should have had government run television: the former USSR and Cuba.

Most homes have either cable or satellite television, cell phones with internet access, DVD players. Why do we need government sponsored television channels? What........ we don't have enough choices in this country?

Public television is "govt run" like "Big Oil" is gov run. Just because they get gov subsidies does not mean it's gov't run.

Public television is not totally financed by the Gov, they get public donations also.

Before we stop supporting public television, lets consider not giving big oil 4 billion in subsidies.

Oh, what's the equivalent of "Sesame Street" that made a go of it on commercial TV?

Why aren't complaining about subsidies to the food or oil industries? How about government support for various symphony orchestras or universities?

I have no use for orchestras and I think all education should be supported by the users only. Oil and food subsides only help to keep the prices lower, so it benefits all.

But when it comes to programming nobody watches, or radio shows nobody listens to, that too should be self-supported. If it can't be supported by private donations or advertising, then obviously it's not worth saving. What conservative broadcasts are supported by the public dollar? None. They all sell advertising and support themselves.

Oh, but you're an insane liar.

"Firing Line" and "Religion and Ethics Weekly" and that McLaughlin show have been on PBS for years. PBS has all sorts of conservative shows.

And while bitching about musical groups that you don't want to support you somehow "forgot" about universities and museums.

"Sesame Street" is not watched by no one. You must have been drunk when you posted that. What it is is commercial free, so the kids' minds can be free of brainwashing for at least a few minutes each day.

Finally, those food and energy subsidies you can so easily explain (dissemble) away are not of benefit to everyone. They are targeted...just like funding of the arts or funding of libraries or funding of universities is.

I've watched McLaughlin for years. It exists solely for Elenor to lambast Pat Buchanan......
.
AND THE CORRECT ANSWER IS: The McLaughlin group should be on free market TV and NOT taxpayer funded TV!
.

You managed to "forget" the other shows I just mentioned, as well as the many other government funded initiatives I similarly named.

Not to mention the many others I can come up with.

It's a society, moron. Lots of people pay income taxes for right wing constapo invasions they don't support. Lots of people pay for public schools when they don't have children. We all pay for emergency room visits by the uninsured. We all pay for libraries, which hardly seems "fair" to your since you're obvious not very literate.

Right... How dare we complain about funding gubment schools. You have your idiot teachers unions looking out for the adults and to hell with our kids.... Right???? Yep, that's right.... Where's the next student teacher sex scandal going to be in Ohio? That one in butler county was a real hoot. Made a lot of national tv time. Nice job.....

Just this morning the news reported 3 of 4 dumbasses graduating gubment high schools aren't smart enough to qualify for military service in the United States. Which libtard politician was it that made the dumbass remark if you don't get an education, you end up in the military??????? That was just classic.....

Yeah real nice..... EFFING libtard.

Oh on the topic of gubment funded culture.... Let's just close down the Neil Armstrong space museum and put up casinos..... Hey, Ho, way to go Ohio........

What a waste of a once strong state.

That's the biggest line of BS I ever read in a blog. The reason taxpayers should fund PBS is so children are not exposed to commercials??? I think you were drunk when you wrote that.

Okay, because PBS has a few (what you call) conservative shows, that makes it a conservative channel? Then I guess ridding this burden from the taxpayer should be something you agree with as well.

And no, I don't think the public should be funding anything not included in the US Constitution. The founders wrote the document to restrict federal involvement--not expand it. If it's not in the Constitution, then it should not be funded by our federal government.
