beethoven you tube selection; 'Beethoven, immortal beloved' excerpt. 3:55 time duration on this excerpt that contains the ninth symphony choral section on Ode to joy. Most likely in or around the fourth movement. What is interesting about the visuals in the video is Beethoven, as a young child sneaks out of his bedroom and heads to a lake in the dead of night and wades into the lake. He floats on his back looking upwards into the night's starry firmament. The scene metamorphasizes to the stars filling the lake, making the lake a night sky. Or outer space or the universe. Its a scene comparable to kate bush's breathing video where at the end she wades through the water of a lake or estuary and makes her way with her compatriot lab workers to a forest clearing, at the final scene of the video. in this scene its as if she is occupying a futuristic planet at such concluding point in the video. additionally, in kate Bush's video; moments of Pleasure, kate Bush, like the young ludwig revolves outwards into the night sky with its stars. Thus that scene of transcendental behaviour is similar to the Ludwig beethoven occupying the starry night sky scene excerpt also. its interesting that ludwig van Beethoven and john Keats lived in the same time period. keats life spanned 1795 to 1820. beethoven lived from 1770 to 1827. The early romanitc era. The british navy was active in the early 1800's in the napoleonic war. beethoven wrote of the napeoleonic era in his music; 'Eroica Symphony' originally was dedicated to Napoleon.

Next five Beatles songs that could be listened to in the presented progression: "Hard Days Night"
(2) Norweigan Wood" (3) "Nowhere man" (4)"Getting Better" (5) "With a little help from my friends".
THe above songs come from the early years predominantly.
In other areas, getting back to the Piedmont area of North Carolina and South Carolina. I always wondered whether there was some spiritual aura or ambience that was spiritually significant and bodied (for want of a better term)that arose from the piedmont regions and its red clay, in both North Carolina and South Carolina. THere seems to be some mildly narcotocizing effect on ones psyche while living in the piedmont region, over a period of time. Also, the issue whether such a spiritual sense and aura filtered its way into EMI with some psychic influence with the Pink Floyd phenomena and James Taylor. THe previous wikipedia quote from James Taylor from a second week entry of May 2010, seems to be his expression of such a spiritual aura and ambience that molded his psyche from time to time while living in Carrboro and Morgan Creek. And could have influenced his ceative sensibilities. I lived in Carrboro for a while also. Back in the late 70's and early 80's in N.C.

The following article "wikipedia: Piedmont Blues" the article recounts the nature and character and origins and history of the Piedmont Blues. The use of a thumb based bass picking style layered over by a sycopant treble picking with fore finger----such stylistic executions on guitar that characterize piedmont blues manner of playing, are addressed in the article. The piedmont blues is characteristic of Afro American secular style playing up and down the east coast U.S. with a focus of the music coming from the piedmont regions of the east coast. This is covered in the article. Also the wikipedia "Bruce Basitin" is a UNC Chapel Hill researcher that has researched the Piedmont Blues. He was born (Spetember 19, 1939 Chelmsford England) Crying for the Carolines was a book he wrote. Red River Blues was another book he wrote. Both are books about the piedmont blues. Bastin owns a record company in West Sussex England called Interstate Music Ltd.

The piedmont blues that came from the piedmont region of the east coast of the U.S. with a concentration in North Carolina and South Carolina. Does the piedmont have any influence on music creativity. THere was a comment at EMI made by Paul McCartney that the artists lately have felt like they were part of the furniture. Perhaps even Paul McCartney in his career at EMI back in the 1960's felt like he was part of the furniture.
Being part of the furniture at EMI could be special event perhaps. Pink Floyd whose name was created by the Piedmont blues musicians, and James Taylor singing of copperline--seeming a Red River Blues---resemblance piece of James Taylor, since copperline is a stream or creek running through the red soil of the piedmont, the stream being Morgan Creek....and so on. The piedmont region and whatever spiritual nature the region held possibly seems to have made an impact an EMI back in the early years, in a half joking manner of thought, I confess. But getting back to these themes, The McCartney thought: feeling like the furniture is interesting, in that in the piedmont region of North Carolina, the furniture industries were the largest in the world. Even today 8.8 billion dollars in the N.C> furniture industries located in the High Point and Thomasville= towns of piedmont central North Carolina still churn out all types of furniture. Perhaps the ancient spirits of the piedmont and Uhwarrie mountains filtered into the furniture at Thomasville and High Point, once the furniture was manufactured in N.C.and perhaps EMI wound up with some pieces in their London offices. So as the musicians sat in the furniture waiting on appointments with record executive people, the piedmont ancient spirits would rise out of the furniture ,invisible as they are, they entered into the psyche and minds of the musicians sitting in the piedmont made furniture. Essentially, the intoxicating nature of the piedmont spirits made the musicians feel like they were part of the furniture. When actually they were becoming part of the piedmont ancient spirits. And the spirits could help them with their creativity. Maybe one could yank the spirits out of the furniture and wind up with a ghost band or something, that could make billions of dollars. So if EMI recovers in the future make sure furniture is from Thomasville or High Point.
Well so much for way out floating thinking for today, but in anycase the following web sites detail the furniture industries in piedmont North Carolina.
"High Point Chamber of Commerce"
"High Point Furniture Industries"
"THomasville Furniture"
"Thomasville Furniture Industries" - wikipedia.

The wikipedia article relates the history of the Thomasville chair company in the early years of the twentieth century and how it came into being to eventually form the Thomasville industries. Perhaps Kate Bush in her 1979x mas special: Violin, the song she did on that particular video, is 'mimicking yanking the piedmont spirits out of the chairs at EMI', when she performs this tug of war behaviour in front of the guitarist during the musical presentation--I think the guy's name was Alan Murphy. If I recall perhaps, an executive at High Point furniture stated somewhere back in the 1970's that there was a piece of piedmont N.C. made furniture in every country in the world, by that time. Perhaps in London a few pieces made their way to EMI. So the industry which had its major impact throughout the United States during the twentieth century still retains somewhat of a prominent position in the furniture field. Though in the recent decades the industry has declined somewhat. Las Vegas actually offered something of a competitive challenge to the North Carolina furniture makers with their own show and licensed companies. THis occurence happened sometime over the last 10 or 15 years and may be current today. However the spring furniture show at High Point or THomasville is still the largest in the world.

February 1 2011 EMI update. The U.S. Bank Citigroup has now officialy bought EMI and has written off sizeable portions of its debt and shored up assets of the British recording group formerly owned by Terra Firma private equity firm. Emi was formerly overseen by Guy Hands the Terra Firma executive. Roger Faxon chief executive of EMI today, has stated the move is favourable for the recording company, with now modest debt and a robust accounting sheet, the citigroup takeover makes it one of the strongest recording outfits in the industry . Additionally, the company could be sold in the future to Warner Bros. Bloomberg carried an article on this development on Tuesday Feb 1 2011.

As for EMI news of recent note. EMI announced that a Kate Bush album most likely will be released in November of 2011. THis album comes after her previous May 2011 release of Directors Cut. Director's Cut is a remake and revisement of earlier songs from previous albums of hers, such as the Red Shoes, Rubberband Girl, Moments of Pleasure and others. Kate Bush News "web site" carries also a compilation of the recent interviews that she has completed since the spring of 2011.
