BURN IT! The so-called American generation known as the "Greatest Generation", the generation that grew up in the great depression and fought WWII was not the greatest generation in my opinion was because they bred the "Hippies". They spoiled their kids rotten in the 1950's and did not get a hand on the pop teen culture of with it's core values of sex, drugs, and rock & roll. The last greatest generation were the ones who fought WWI, who died off in the 1960's & 70's. The so-called Greatest Generation's legacy is Hippies with Atomic bombs. In your heart you know I am right. In your heart you know this is why we will get nuked. Everybody born from 1942 on is rotten to the core.

Hitsville USA never left the hands of Berry Gordy, unlike the Abbey Road studio which was the sole property of EMI since 1931. One may feel that Paul should feel obligated to saving the old studio, and perhaps restoring it to it's former glory, or upgrading it to modern standards. I just read that the National Trust may take interest in it...

Wow - NOT a "glass is half full" kinda guy, huh?

Those who cannot bend with the wind of changing times will perish - no wonder you are so scared.

Do you really go through life being so blind to the beauty that is around you everyday?

What a pity.

And, btw, don't ever tell anyone else what they believe in their hearts - especially on a hot mess like Topix. Makes you look like a horse's ass.

Agree - Abby Road, also, back in the day was also one of the smaller studios that worked with smaller labels whereas Motown and Barry Gordy would not.

Hence, the Beatles' deal with PocketDisc at the time.

Thanks Poppa - there is so much ugliness in the world - I know that...but, if everyone would just take 5 minutes a day and make the effort to SEE beauty, they would so much happier....whether it's a sunset, sunrise, bird in the air, hawk perched on his bough, the ocean, a river, a field or mountain....the small kindnesses that people show each other every day...

I might bet he's the kind of guy that wouldn't say "thank you" if you held the door for him.

It's those small efforts in life that really do matter a great deal.

Peace to you, too my fair brother!

Abbey Road is the record subsidiary of EMI, EMI is Kate Bush's record company among other artists, possibly David Gilmour, and the like. Kate Bush could be coming out with another album by year's end, and she has recorded already various songs, one being "As She Moved through the Fair". THis latter song was used earlier in the Movie "Michael Collins" the Irish Revolutionary, and Sinead O'Connor could have been the singer who performed the piece. Additionally there has been word Tori Amos has dropped her record label:Epic, for reasons of overly extended restrictions the major label implaced upon her and she in turn has decided to go with and Indie label. But back to the original topic, there is a lot of history wrapped up with the AAbbey Road studios extending back to the sixties with the Beatles.

The beatles did alot of their singles and albums at Abbey Road recording studios 1962-1970. THey even finished their career, or the near end of their career with the album Abbey Road. THe album of course being name after the famed Abbey Road studios the EMI subsidary. EMI which was founded in 1931, created abbey road as a subsidary studio. The studios was also a site for remastering of classical recordings from Kingsway Hall. Innovative recording techniques adopted by the beatles, Pink Floyd, occured at Abbey Road--info. courtesy of 'wikipedia Abbey Road Recording studios'. Sir Edward Elgar conducted the London Symphony Orchestra in recording sessions of his music at Abbey Road Recording studios.
What is interesting about the history of the studio is that Cliff Richard and the Drifters in 1958 recorded the song "move It". THis song was the first rock and roll single created in Europe arguably.
Most important for the studios is that in 2010 the British Government stepped in to protect Abbey Roads studio by having it instated as 'historic site status'; so the property and the recording establishment received protection via the government and thus the establishment will stand and exist for the decades ahead with such a legislative action on the part of the British Government. THis could be a substantial move in the right direction for preserving the legacy of the historic recording studio into the future years.

From Access Atlanta: "EMI says Abbey Road studios not for sale" February 22,2010. Jill Lawless writer. excerpt from the article: "London-Cash strapped music company EMI Group Ltd. has shelved plans to sell Abbey Road and is now looking for an ivestor to help save the London recording studio made famous by the Beatles. News last week that EMI had been speaking to potential buyers sparked dismay among music fans. Former beatle Paul McCartney said he hoped Abbey Road could be preserved, and the National Trust heritage group said it was considering buying the building. But EMI now says it wants to keep the facility and is talking to "interested and appropriate third parties" about a revitalization project....EMI said Sunday it had rejected a 30 million pound (50 million $) offer for Abbey Road last year. It said Abbey Road had been losing money "for a number of years....and we have developed plans to revitalize the studios. These plans would involve a substantial injection of new capital." End quote. further news on Abbey Road continued in subsequent postings. This is the recent news as of February 22, 2010, on the status of the future of the recording sudios Abbey Road. As plans have reeled from Government takeovers as a historic site to now finding a series of new business partners for revitalizing the cash deficit producing studios that have a long rich legacy of recording artists creating their works within its walls, such as Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Coldplay, Lily Allen and Robbie Williams ect...More later.
