I just turned off what was once called Soapnet. It's off my system until Disney Jr is active.

I am annoyed as well, as a Mom of a nearly 4 year old, I was really looking forward to a channel that had more age appropriate shows on all day long and none of the crappy older kids / teenage shows that are on every afternoon. Hopefully Direct will wake up very soon and put this on

Everyone on here that has read this article needs to call and make a complaint to DirecTv about this. I have already called and complained and if enough people say that they want it eventually DirecTv will offer it. When I called the lady that I spoke to said she had no idea what I was talking about and that I was the first one to ask why they didn 't have it. Whether this is true I don 't know, but if I 'm paying for it I SHOULD be able to get the channels that I want. DirecTv 's number is 1-800-531-5000.

I just got off the phone with DirecTV. What I was told is that they intend on carrying Disney Jr channel, but they are still negotiating the contract for price so they are unsure of when it will happen.
Whether they do or they don't, it won't ruffle my feathers. There is plenty more to watch, not to mention perhaps if it's a big enough problem maybe it's time to turn off the TV and do something else.

we can always make a petition for them to put Disney junior channel http://www.change.org/

And annoy them by calling them, and demanding them to put it on.

They never should have been advertising it if they had no intentions of carrying. We too have a very disappointed young lady. Guess they have to keep the annoying teeny bop shows on! Ugh!

My 3 1/2 year old was looking forward to the Disney Junior channel. It's been advertised so much on Disney. Directv, wake up and get with the program---literally,
Very disappointing. Such a let down for moms and kids all over.

We too are extremely upset and just dejected that DirectTv is not providing this service! We too have been waiting to turn the channel on that we can watch even at bedtime! Not just the four hour block!

They'll carry it. Just give them time. Call and request it if you want to help speed it along. In the meantime, record the 4 hour morning block and watch it when you need your fix.

The advertising, by the way, is on the Disney Channel. DirecTV has nothing to do with it so good luck with that class action lawsuit. Instead of undertaking that pointless exercise, spend that time reading with your kids, taking them to the park, playing with them, etc.

When I called direct tv yesterday they said they are negotiating to get the channel. The thought is disney jr will be replacing the Soap Network. Disney requires the providers to pay a fee to carry the channel, basically they are negotiating that price. Also if you go and read several different discussion boards this channel is only available in a few markets, and only through a handful of companies. As for the commercials I agree it sucks they were playing constantly, but that's on Disney not directv. Disney should have been more responsible and not teased our kids with a channel that is not available in several large markets. We are in San Diego and we have NO carriers that will provide this channel right now. Also for those saying to switch to Dish Network they are not carrying it either. If enough people call directv the deal will get done

Smh..
I've been waiting for this channel for like a month, so I can watch Rollie Pollie Ollie, The Bear in the Big Blue House and such.I'm 14 years old can't I be a kid anymore and watch my old tv shows that remind me of the good old days? Like when we had Dora not asking us about places that's right behind her? Is that too much to ask for? I think not.

This is horrible news. My family are new Direct TV customers, but if these are the kind of decisions on programming we can expect, I'm going to regret choosing this service. I definitely won't be recommending them to my friends, most of whom have young children.
