Keeping up with the times is important for all religions. But proclaiming cartoon characters, Homer and Bart Simpson, Catholic is not a position L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, needs to take. Even though the "Simpsons" TV program contains at times religious themes it is not relevant to believers or non-believers the faith of these characters.

Yes. Homer loves Jeepers. He is saved!

How long did it take to convert Homer?
About two seconds when he saw the priest turn a biscuit into ... whatever.

He thought, "I can do that!"

Homer will be an altar boy soon.

Watch out Homer, they will get you too!

I'm surprised the Vatican actually even bothered with this. Is a cartoon character's religious affiliation that important?

just because a newspaper promotes the simpsons does not mean that the Catholic church promotes it!! what garbage! the simpsons is ok for adults to watch but it is full of innuendos not suitable for kids.

The Catholic Church make claims to anything popular. It made claim to everything else.Boy i cannot believe they took a break from sodomizing kids long enought to watch the simpsons.I guess the heat is on them right now. There was a tape on the internet were a nun left a Church in some third world country were the Church has the upper hand. She told of the babies that was buried in the back of the Church were the Priest knocked these Nuns up.I bet if they started digging around a lot of them Churches you would find a lot of babies. That the reason Russia threw them out of Russia they were robbing the people blind.

Peter Griffin (Family Guy) is a Catholic.
The rest of his family tolerate that but are in no wise religeous.

Come to think of it, neither is Peter.

His dog Brian might be though just to please him.

It only makes the church look bad; shows where their priorities are.

LOL! But what about one of my favorite fantasy characters, the Wizard of Oz?

If HE'S not Catholic, I will no longer believe he's a wizard!!

My heart doth breaketh.
