Sorry, but your facts are wrong about Patinkin. He had been talking to CBS for quite some time about his concerns about the show, its violence against women and graphic depiction of violence. He did not want to renew his contract and while CBS chose not to tell the producers of the show or the cast, they did in fact know this was going on for some time. This happens in TV all the time. He did not leave them in the lurch. If CBS chose to keep it secret from their own staff, that is their fault.
