My husband is the "stud greenhorn" from Big Gun that has been edited and voiced over to be some kind of maniac. This show is as fake as any sitcom. My husband was not fired, but quit. Ryan, the other greenhorn, did not stay at a camp site but shared a motel with us. My husband quit after 6 days of filming and was hired by a reputable logging company that would never be caught dead working with this show. The company was created SOLELY for this show. No company wold get hired or stay open for more than 5 minutes if the problems that happen on every episode actually happened. Yes, lines snap and people get hurt, but everything that happens on this show is created by the producer, at least at Big Gun. The producer was Arem and nearly got the entire thing shut down by creating such dangerous events. One day the company that owns the land DID shut down production and Arem tried to bribe them to stay open. These men work hard and under dangerous conditions at best but what happens on this show is completely fabricated and bull. My husband didn't even get paid what he was promised until he threatened to go to the labor board. I can't speak for the other sites, just Big Gun. Creating drama for a show is one thing but Arem is the most ridiculous producer and I can't believe the History Channel calls this farce a "reality show". So watch it if you like it but don't think it's real. Put it in the same category as 90210 or Seinfeld. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it was a stepping stone for my family for my husband to get a real logging job at a great company. For that I am grateful.

Amy, anyone with half a brain knows Ax Men is a fake. 1. Nobody can be as stupid as the loggers on that show are portrayed; 2. If they worked like that every day they'd all be dead.

Can't be real. If it was, that old sob that operates the crane (the boss' dad) would have got the holy shit beat out of him. I've worked with cranes all of my life and it doesn't matter whether or not that you like the man doing the hooking, you never swing lifts, or intentionally drop logs near them. I would break his eye socket for him and worry about a job later!

Just pull the plug on this series. The over-acting on the show is getting worse.I thought Shelby was bad enough, now they've got another guy with a gun stealing logs.Give me a break! Not to mention the fake-fight with dj and Craig,I'm done! Why not bring back Shelby's cousin with the bow and arrow. They''ve jump the shark!

How no one goes to jail for attempted murder should be the first sign this is fake. This season is hard to believe. Started out realist then each season got more and more unrealistic. Now just unbelievable.

After DJ/Craig incident and "Cletus" showing up with a shotgun to defend stolen logs, I turned to my wife last night and said, "This show has jumped the shark. I won't watch another minute of it!" And I won't.

Of course most scenes are faked for television. Just like in pawnstars, they pick days to film all the drama and edit it to the show so time isn't lost. There's no way they would actually risk 300 pound trees hitting employees. This has been going on for years and we watch it anyways. These are top ranked shows and they are paying good money to these guys to act stupid! It's the future of television. Sad

Jumped the shark is exactly right. when he swung the log at him, you can see him jump into the log when the normal human reaction would be to duck. At least in seasons past there was a smidgen of believability. No longer.

Fake. After knocking DJ over with the log the next shot from different angle has pile of brush in the machine head.
If it was anywhere close to real DJ would have left the job site and headed to lawyer"s office. Assault or attempted murder with heavy equipment. Has to have a case unless he was in on it.
As someone else has already mentioned. OSHA. Where are they for this crap? Last year SpikeTV had show about coal mining. Mine inspecters watched the show and fined the coal company for violations they saw in the show.

I like this show but there's to much staged stuff going on.This comment isn't about Rygaard. But,The S&S boat that got swung over wasn't even the same boat.If you got demand on cable watch the 1st show when they put the boat in.The boat has basically no rust on the outside and The Logzilla writing is different at the end of the letters is a different accent. To catch this you have to go back and forth from E1 and E6.If you look close enough you'll see what I mean.Even the air pockets those square openings and the paint job is different on those long tubular things that goes on the water first. Its a silver paint job with a little bit dark blue on E1.On E6 the paint job its a silver and a super dark blue looks like they put 3 new coats on it its so dark looking.Even the engine is different E1 its white and silver and has a number 80 on it.On E6 its white and black on the back and it has a number 60 on it.Also on E1 there is actual rails on the boat.On E6 there are no rails. And the boat console on E1 has a different shape and paint job than E6.Nice boat prop though better not tell Jimmy.lol
