Craftsman style farmhouse built in 1916

In restoring this house, I would like to know if it would have been period appropriate to have crown moulding in the living and dining areas. Ther is none now, but am considering adding it, if appropriate.

I think it would certainly be appropriate. The thing to be concerned about would be the type to use. I don't think a smooth crown as you find in the regular building supply stores would work. Most of that used in the early 1900's needs to be a decorative style. You might look at some reclaiming businesses that demo buildings.
