Tough reviews for Jim Lehrer as debate moderator

There are 126 comments on the www.sfgate.com story from Oct 4, 2012, titled Tough reviews for Jim Lehrer as debate moderator. In it, www.sfgate.com reports that:

Jim Lehrer may be regretting his decision to come out of semi-retirement and moderate his 12th presidential debate.

The veteran PBS anchor drew caustic social media reviews for his performance on Wednesday, with critics saying he failed to keep control of the campaign's first direct exchange between President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney. The candidates talked over Lehrer's attempts to keep them to time limitations, and his open-ended questions frequently lacked sharpness.

Democrats are blamers

Everything was Bush's fault. It's still Bush's fault after nearly 4 years of the Obama administration's programs and policies

It's somebody else's fault for Fast and Furious.

It's the film makers' fault for the rape and murder of Amb. Chris Stevens and 3 other wonderful Americans.

and with this debate, blame is shifted from President Obama to the moderator, Jim Lehrer.

Americans grow tired of these excuses and lack of responsibility.

Wonder what the excuses will be for the Biden/Ryan debate? Joe off his meds?

The public is tired of excuses

What's Obama's specifics? Raise taxes on the mean evil rich? Dude... the government could confiscate 100% of the mean evil rich peoples money and it still wouldn't get our debt under control!

Al Gore's verbal insanity should be enough reason to elect Romney. As economics decline, what people thought of as "cute" and " so forward", becomes an ugly monster that consumes every last piece of resource. Well here we are..

Romney says he can do better so he should prove he can by having specifics on how he will accomplish his plans.
Romney says he will create 12 million jobs in 4 years but no specifics on how he will accomplish it. Romney may as well said 25 million jobs in 4 years with no specific plans.

Romney did great. I was surprised. No one on Earth wants to go up against the first African-American president. Romney treated Obama with respect, they even agreed on many things. I think Romney came across like the one who can work with both parties and get things done, he showed the two different philosophies of the parties very well. I think Romney looked like the father scolding his son and Obama just stood there and took it. Romney really surprised me.

Now imagine the idiot, idiot, can't ever open his mouth without making mistakes Joe Biden going up against the super smart, number crunching Paul Ryan. OMG. You think this was bad, the Biden/Ryan debate is going to be much, much worse for the Dems that this debate was. Wait until MSNBC sees how good Ryan is and how bad Biden is. Their heads are going to explode after the next debate.

How would they even prep Paul Ryan to debate Joe Biden?? He is such an idiot that no one ever knows what he is going to say and he doesn't know one thing. They must have somebody stand there and just say off the wall stuff, throw everything at the wall and see if anything sticks.

You continue to avoid the question, where are Romney's specifics plans on how he will accomplish what he promises? Romney making promises he can not back up. Romney all talk no specific plans.

You're right.

So let's go into the details of Obastard's lies - specifically where he's really from.

This is the strategy that Obama tried to use last night. It didn't work. Romney will broaden the tax base, have a trade war with China, lower taxes overall but end some tax deductions. He spelled out what he would do. The idea is if you have a trade war with China and lower the corporate tax rate down from being the highest in the world, those two things should bring a lot of manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. If you can create 5 million jobs by having a trade war with China, which mainly liberals talk about taking on China, more than the Repubs do, but if you do slap tariffs on Chinese imports and force China to bring its currency up to its real value, that's what we did to Japan and that's how we stopped Japan from taking over as the number one economy, so that should bring a manufacturing base back to the U.S., so you would have a lot more people working and if you ask everyone to pay a bit in federal income taxes, those two things will bring in a lot more tax revenues. You really can't have two percent of the population carrying the entire tax base and have 80 percent of both the black and Hispanic communities on welfare never paying any taxes and using up tons and tons of tax money on the prisons, on welfare, on housing, on Medicaid, on police, on the high crime neighborhoods they produce, on the free court appointed lawyers when they commit crimes. It's sucking all the tax money up. Also, they have very large families, pay no taxes and use a disproportionate amount of public school money and don't pay property taxes, so the do not pay one cent for the public schools. You really can't have a few people paying for others to have kids they treat so badly that the kids end up in gangs, in prison and on welfare themselves. If we ended welfare, that would solve more problems than anything else and it would allow those at the top to pay a reasonable tax rate. It is not their responsibility to pay the majority of entire races of people to live without ever working and pay for them to abuse their kids and to commit crimes. It's not working. If you get rid of those destructive welfare programs, the rich would not have to pay 75 percent in taxes. It's a total and complete waste of money.
