Lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Like fish stories, they exaggerate in direct proportion to the length of time since the incident.

Back then, all schools treated all the kids like crap, and compared to today's standards, most teachers would be charged with assault.

I talked at length with a lady who went to a res school. Her parents also ran the school. She said it was a wonderful school and her parents were loving and nurturing administraters. All the kids seemed happy and surely if any thing off colour was going on everyone one would have known about it.She was shocked when out of the blue hundreds of stories, prompted by money grubbing lawyers, were being told of abuse at this school. It was all lies however the natives were paid off and the lawyer became filthy rich,to the tune of 20 million bucks.A lot of the native kids were placed in this school by their parents who were incapable of raising them.Double jackpot, they did not raise their kids and they got a bucket full of money for it.A lot of the native kids said they had the time of their lives while at these schools but that didn't stop them from taking the handouts. When I was in elementary school I was beaten and verbally abused but that did not entitle me for anything.I guess only natives are entitled to get paid for what the rest of us put up with everyday.

Always cynicism when it comes to stories like this. It is true and no amount of spreading rumors of greed will change that. Look at the other history of this country and you will be pretty surprised. There is a huge reason why you dont see natives as a regular part of middle class Canada. It was because of "policy" like this. Natives were not even permitted within the cities a generation ago and could be forcibly removed. There are other forms of policy that impacted native people physical and emotional well being that was also malicious and callous.

Shame on you for spreading lies about stories like this being about money. In the words of GSP: "listen to me you uneducated fool"--pick up a book and read something before you start speaking on it. Native people should actually be commended for their patience and kindness. White people go crazy en mass for all sorts of reasons. Some are crazy like Airline delays. Some are not like plant closures. Could you imagine if someone promised to take care of your kid and they went missing or were raped. What if they promised them a better life but destroyed them as people instead? So far native people have been more than patient when it comes to stuff like this. Seriously. we shouldn't spread rumors about situations like this. Im just saying; people ignore this ignorant person above. At the very least read something current about the residential school system.

Wow... Pot calling the kettle black in this post. You are clearly coming off as another typical disgruntled Indian that thinks whitey owes them everything. Relax Bren, have another beer (we know that's at least something you people are good at, a little drunk are we?) Are you trying to tell us every single Indian boy was molested in the schools and not one is lying cause there is more free money involved from the government and church? The poster was relating 1 story he heard and you call him a pedophile. You are an idiot chug.
Screw this pot calling the kettle black b.s.
The sad truth is that people have to realize that their grandfathers and grandpas were apart of this and let it go on. There will now be a discussion as to how far can they be compared to the Nazi's and how hypocritical it was for them to take part in WW2 while stuff like this was going on. Now others have to inconveniently look at this and explain their actions. Hell, some might even think they will have to explain themselves to their own god. At any rate I think most thought themselves and Canada as a Prince whose majority population of white people held themselves high and mighty against Nazi's, Jesuits, colonial Americans, and are now just finding out that their wealth and their prosperity were founded upon actions like this.

In Canada here they are certainly eating at nice restaurants, owning homes and sending there kids to school with their savings because they used their military to against mass amounts of old men, women and children, after using germ warfare to kill off the millions of others who would have been able to use these resources to build a second demographic within Canada which was economically strong and democratically astute.

Remember this story took place well before Multiculturalism. And, this film is just another one of those Genocidal bricks in the wall. Residential schools used lies and preyed upon the trustful nature of the people who truly believed they were doing the right thing for their children.

Whatever your background your comments are certainly a disgrace.
Save them for yourself and your fellow clansmen.
