It was strange when Mr. Rogers passed, Blinky is equally as strange. Growing up watching these people on TV. Yes great run.

Not many people know he had "Blinkys collectibles" antique shop on Broadway..He used to sit in front in a chair talking to anyone walking by..without clown make up..He would surprise people when they read the sign saying "Blinkys"..It was a small shop [tiny] and I used to go in there when I was in between appointments..He would give me deals on fishing collectibles..He was a really cool guy and always in good spirits..Or good spirits were in him..Either way..He did more for Denver and children then Pena or Hickinlooper will ever do ..

In fact it should be "Blinky Blvd" Not Pena blvd......

He will be remembered by more people too..RIP Blinky..

Are any of you locals old enough to remember the Fred and Faye show? I was on there once. I think I was in first grade.
How about Sheriff Scotty and Mr. Greenjeans?

Yes, Sheriff Scotty was another local Denver kids show and you could be on the show if it was your birthday. I think Captain Kangaroo was national wasn't it? And yes Mr Greenjeans was on Captain Kangaroo.

The Howdy Doody program began broadcasting in the late '40s. The show had a clown named Clarabell. The little Baby Boomers who have caused the nation so much grief were sat in what was called "The peanut gallery". There were various puppets who would talk back and forth with the show's star Buffalo Bob. Most of the succeeding children shows probably were take offs of one kind or another from the Howdy Doody program.

An interesting bit of information about Howdy Doody is that Ron Howard - of Andy Griffith show and Music Man movie fame - once won a contest for the person who looked the most like Howdy Doody.
