This group of men believed in the literal translation of the Torah they had access to and the Torah they had and read never mentions an afterlife or a resurrection.
The Sadducees didn't understand Jesus's answer and neither do you because neither the Sadducees or you understand the power of God that's attached to the promises and covenants of God for this life and or into the next life.
