Saw the piece on Tv tonight. Need to be more objective in reporting. Obamacare DID propose reimbursing physicians to talk with patient's about end of life decisions. Physicians also need to accept when there is nothing more they can offer to their patients to help their quality of life vs prolong their dying. Promptly started Palin's DEATH PANELS rhetoric. Also, there has been Democratic bills trying to increase hospice day reimbursement, quickly shot down.
People--you need to accept you will
DIE!!! Not an option. HOW DO YOU WANT TO DIE??? Tubes out of each orifice in the hospital, OR comfortably @ home with people you care about nearby and being made comfortable, not Drugged up, as most believe hospice is.
Who's deciding this for you??? YOU need to decide what's being done FOR YOU in healthcare, NOT what can be done TO YOU. Remember it is the PRACTICE of MEdicine, and you are the guinea pig. You need to do your Advance Directive/Living Will and your DPOA for Healthcare. Let the people around you know YOUR CHOICES for your life and healthcare. Especially your doctor and who would make the decision if you could not make or communicate your choice. NOT the bureacrats, NOT your insurance company, and NOT the government. NOT a RIGHT To LIFER who thinks you should stay alive way past what You think is QUALITY FOR YOU. PROMOTE YOUR FREEDOMS and CHOICES!!!
We are truly in a mess with healthcare, as doctors practice medicine from a liability standpoint, so they will do everything your loved ones want, unless you have specified your choices. Dead patients don't sue, loved ones do!
PEOPLE Don't Deny yourself quality in end of life, make it CLEAR and right FOR YOU!!!
