My family lost a 15 year old girl in late August due to a car accident. I know what people are going through and any negative comments at this time make me sick. These families need love and support. The thing that has helped me deal with loss is organ donation. Alisha lives on and saved many lives. My heart and prayers goes out to everyone who has had such a terrible loss. A young life cut short is the hardest to make peace with, God look over these families and help them to go on.

Thank you for the update. This is a heartbreaking story. I have a teenage daughter that drives and this is my worst nightmare. I am so saddened for these families. I will continue to pray for these families - all involved. Gob bless the families and friends of these young people. Their lives will forever be changed.

Nowhere has it said anyone was on a cell phone. Im amazed you have the audacity to point out the stupidest thing possible. I know the family of the girl who passed away very well and im sickened by your comment. I love Hannah Christian and her family very much she will always be missed! Prayers go out to the other familys whos daughters were injured in this accident and the driver of the truck as well.

Wish it was that easy Kari, so many teens think they are invincible, and won't accept sound judgment. Then the learning process can be very costly.
That is why rules need to be set and you don't allow them to make their own judgement. Set some strict rules of whom your child is allowed to ride with or don't allow them to ride w/other teens at all! It's simple. I know girls in Sand Springs that are allowed to drive without a license....now that's really making a smart decision for your child, huh?

Isn't it illegal to have this amount of teens in the car unless they are relatives? Maybe that is why we have the law to protect the kids.
A Graduated Driver License (GDL) which has a "G" restriction is: no driving from 10 pm until 5 am unless going to/from work, school or church. No more than one person in the vehicle that is not from the household unless someone over 21 years of age who is properly licensed is in the passenger seat. If they had driver's education they have this restriction for 6 months with no tickets or accidents. If they did not have driver's education they will have the restriction for 12 months with no tickets or accidents. http://www.dps.state.ok.us/dls/gdl.htm

Too bad parents do not enforce the restriction themselves, and rely on everyone else to ensure their child is following the rules.

Wow how snug you sound!!!The laws are to protect everyone, however illegal or not, there are many people here, whos lives are now in a turmoll from this accident, and you are judging these kids for a mistake. You signed mom, I sure hope if you have teenagers they never make a mistake that puts your family in turmoil, and someone such as yourself is so easy to throw out judgement!
If you can't handle someone poising a question(in a public forum) maybe in your emotional state you should not visit, seriously.

Why anyone who knows these people would subject themselves to the possible BS people spew here makes you wonder. God forbid something like this happens to my family, but I can tell you this last place I'm coming for comfort!

This is another senseless loss. My condolences go out to the families and the Sand Springs community. I am from Sapulpa and a couple of months ago we lost one of our own from a senseless vehicle wreck.

How many more teens are going to die before people figure out that teenagers have NO BUSINESS operating a motor vehicle without a parent or adult relative in the front seat.

Every generation looses someone from a tragic and senseless vehicle accident. This has to stop!

I don't know any of these girls and yet this makes me want to scream at the top of my lungs...Their were so many people who cared about them; and who are praying for them now. I find that very amazing. I wish for the recovery of the girl Cassie, as well as the hope that the other girls have gone to a better place now. I wish this hadn't happened. From the bottom of my heart. And I also hope the man who was in the truck is okay. This will never leave him. This is truly a tragedy.

I thought Oklahoma had a graduated licence for beginners, 2 14 year old and a 15 year and a 16 year old driving ? I thought an adult had to be in car? Another sad event !

Ice - this is a place for people to go to share their support for the families, their prayers, etc not for the cold hearted to appoint themselves Judge and Jury - and to "ass"ume they know what they are talking about!! for the most part the "cold hearted" comments are from those that haven't a clue what they are talking about - so if you don't have something nice to offer - just "go away" and pray it never happens to you!!! or your loved ones!!!

I lost my daughter in a car accident a few years ago and she reached for her phone that was ringing and she never answered that call. It is very sad and I miss her everyday. However if others read this and it saves just 1 teenager's parents from going thru this then it is worth writing. I pray for all the family's. Kids remember to pay attention while driving!

Mom, in Oklahoma a 16 year old who has had an intermediate license for 6 months is not restricted to number of passengers. If a driver does not go the intermediate route they must then be 18 to be unrestricted as to passengers. Most kids here get the intermediate license at 15/1/2 years old so that at 16 they don't have passenger restrictions. But they are still subject to curfew at night until they are 18. This accident happened in the afternoon.
I misspoke earlier. It is one of four 16 years olds who are involved in an accident or get a moving violation during their first year of driving.
Are you people out of your minds, none of that matters at this moment, this is my lil cousin and the family does not need to hear anything but positive and uplifting things please. There are two girls hanging on for dear life and our prayers need to be for them, we need a miracle now.

Parents and kids need to learn from this horrible incident.

Many things can prevent accidents and injuries. Driving within the restrictions of a driver license and the laws (ie wearing glasses if required, "G" restriction, speed, seat belts, etc.). How many people have already given their lives for these to become the law? How many more need to be injured or killed before people will realize it may happen to them?

As parents of teens we have stressed to our kids that laws are there for a reason, and they are to be obeyed all of the time and not just when it is convenient. As a family, we have always worn our seat belts. As parents, we do not speed or run stop signs (and we do not make exceptions cause we are running late), and we do not talk/text while we are driving. Kids learn by watching what we do, and not just by what we say.

Lets hope someone can learn from this horrible tragedy!
