What makes you think they fired in the direction of the child? PRETTY SURE AN OHP OFFICER KNOWS HOW TO HANDLE HIS WEAPON!!

Who said it was in the direction of a child? Even if it was, I will take my chances if my life depends on it. It wasn’t the officer that put the child in danger, it was the moron that acted a fool with his kid there.

I didn't say they were trained to "shoot to wound" I said they were trained not to make a kill shot unless absolutely needed. The officer could have easily used a taser, or prepper spray to get the guy down, though I wouldn't want anyone to use pepper spray around a child. I didn't even say that it was -advised- the the officer should have used a gun in that situation.

But, he did. So my statement followed, rathering the officer shoot him in the leg then the head or chest and killing the man for running from being pulled over for a broken light.

I find it amazing the lack of respect the posters on here have for law enforcement. Yes, there are bad apples, but that doesn't justify placing all police in the category of being bad.
The TW reported that the guy reached under his seat after being arrested.
...with a baby in the seat right next to him. That means the trooper was firing in the direction of the baby, right? If the trooper was outside and firing into the vehicle, the two front seats are lined up right? Man in one, baby in the next? Why is that so hard to figire out?

Reckless doesnt even begin to describe the troopers actions.

Im sure that when the kid was shot they had an ambulance on the way but it was pulled over by wanna be trooper Martin.
Now I cant believe anyone would leave a child in the car while what I perceived to be a mad man was trying to kill someone (No I am not calling the trooper a mad man)

I can imagine they were shooting for his legs while he was running, so yeah one hit is pretty good. Not everyone can be a sniper/sharp shooter.
What a fool.
Police always shoot to kill, and never hesitate because they know any deadly force is automatically covered by the DA.
Seriously, when is the last time you ever heard of a DA _not_ justifying a cop shooting somebody?

Let's check this guys criminal convictions and history before we even begin to try and blame the Trooper. Felony theft, Credit card fraud, drug charges, two different jail escape charges. No I don't feel a bit sorry for him. Read the story and you will know that the bad guy placed a child in danger during all this. It was and is HIS choice how he acts. Blaming the Trooper, society, bad parenting, bad schools and whatever buzz words we are using this week to try and justify behavior that places children at risk and forces one of our Officers to take an action, thats just stupid.

To the trooper who pulled this guy over...Thanks for doing your job. You are very much appreciated for all you do to keep our state safe. Too bad there are alot of criminals who have access to a computer and no moral character who choose to defend a habitual criminal.

Sounds like a harrassment stop gone bad, and even you cop huggers on here know that harrassment stops happen, you know, the "tag light out" stop, even as you stand there seeing it's on, and being told it came on when you shut the door.
And no, I'm not on the wrong side of the law, haven't been stopped in over 20 years, I follow speed limits, and drive safely, but cannot stand the nut swinging chest thumpers in uniform. Someone said "show respect to get respect" .... bull***, these are cops you are talking about here, what in the hell makes a cop think I need to show them respect just because they are cops, they come up with the "look how big my nuts are" attitude, I'm pretty much going to give the same, on the other hand, they come up being polite, I don't give any attitude whatsoever, I don't call them sir, they aren't any better than me, and I'm not scared of them, that would upset most of the law enforcement, hell, I'd get choked out if I was stopped in certain parts of Oklahoma for not acting like the officer was god.

If the guy had a bad tail light and thats all he had then why did he have to fight the trooper. He is probably a no good snake in the grass and he should of been shot. Black SOBs like this are the ones out all night shooting at each other and at the TPD. I say he had it coming.

I just dont understand why these idiots continue to think they can fight the police.....they never win...just ends up worse then it could of been. If some guy would have tried to fight me i would of shot his butt too.

"The trooper was knocked onto his back and the driver reached under his seat. Thinking the man was retrieving a gun, the trooper ordered him to stop and fired two shots"

So, he fired into the vehicle with the baby sitting right in his line of fire in the next seat. If the baby had been hit, they would have charged the driver being shot at with murder. Oklahoma's twisted laws.

I can't believe you stupid country bumpkins would want this trooper who probably started this argument to shoot and kill this man in front of a child, and if there was drugs or something illegal in the car, they would have stated that. Further more I hope every racist( because that's what a lot of you are) on this panel have something like this happen to you or a close family member, then you'll think a lot differently
