I guess I'm greedy because I would camp out in the parking lot and be on the doorstep in the morning with my hand out for my check! You'd know it was me because youd hear my "WHOOO HAAAAA" in all states!

It's not that you're greedy at all. What it IS,is that you probably NEED the money desperately. Obviously, and this is a sad fact, but most lottery winners are rich already. Or at the very least, very well off...and so they are consequently not in a very big hurry to get to the lottery office.

My opinion ? Quite frankly, I think income should be checked when buying lottery tickets, because I don't think rich people should be allowed to play. And I'm not the only one who feels this way, in fact, people I know (totalling over 1000) agree with me and want to get a petition going about this very thing.

totally agree THIS SUCKS, we should have a color coding system on all drivers licenses that state what income you are. and every time you buy a ticket they have to check your your i.d. to make sure you are at the appropriate level.

0-10000 black
10-20000 brown
20-35000 orange
35-45000 yellow
45-60000 blue
60-80000 purple
80-120000 majenta
120,000 + green

so lets say black and brown folks buy a certain lotto

then the orange and yellows buy another type of lotto

then so on and so on.

we should even have this system when walking into a macy's or designer type store. why not even for certain grocery stores or schools for your kids.

this is a super idea. lets check incomes on everything to see if certain folks deserve to spend their money how they wish. there are waaaaaaaaay to many freedoms in this country.

Ok..so you think rich people should be allowed to play in what is supposed to be a way to make poor peoples dreams come true and which would not make a BIT of difference to somebody who already has a lot of money.

How is this fair ??? The lottery states that everyone has the same chances of winning, but how can this be ? The numbers alone blast this bullshit into the water.

If all I have to spend is 2 dollars a week on a lottery ticket and someone like, say, Bill Gates comes along and purchases 100 dollars a week in tickets..well, I ask you...who has the better chances of winning ??? And whoslife will it change MORE to win ?

What's fair is fair and me and lots of other people think it DEFINITELY isn't fair that rich people are allowed to play.

Just a few questions...are you a democrat,socialist,commie,repu blican,libertarian?
The lottery was not set up to change your life. It is set up to raise money for various things and to take a little off of our taxes(Florida,Georgia,etc...)M y guess is that you would be griping if you won and someone else did too...Because you would have to split the dough. You sound unstable because you have no common sense. Did you graduate from high school? Did you complete economics 101? Your ultimate dream would be for rich people to play but not be able to win...Next question...What do you consider rich? and What would you spend it on? The thing about this is...when poor people like you win, It doesn't last long. Also You end up worse than before you won.You would be better off taking your two dollars a week and putting it in the bank. Stable balanced people with expendable income should win in my opinion because chances are they do not have kids going to school hungry because mommy had to have the lunch money for lotto.

Another richie heard from.

So the inference here is that I'm a "commie/socialist" because I think the lottery should be made fair ?

That's what the repugnants always do whenever someone tries to make a situation fair for poorer folks. They accuse them of being commies in order to police them into silence.

Well, I'm not a sheep who can be lead into line with the rest of the sheep. Sorry.

Frankly, I don't think the lottery should be set up to raise money for ANYTHING except the people who put the money in in the first place. And it doesn't take anything off taxes, let's get that arguement out of the way. In my state taxes are just as high as they were BEFORE the lottery.

If I won the lottery, it would change my life forever. And not only mine because I'm not some greedy ass richie. It would change my friends lives as well and stop us from working retail forever and putting up with crap from rich people like YOU.

Lets go over this point by point shall we?
First I never said that you were a commie. It was multiple choice.
I also do not think that you are one of those sheep that you speak of...I think of you more of a lemming.
You need to check what your lottery revenue pays for. It either goes for schools, sales tax or something like that.Edu cate your self.
As far as getting out of retail...go back to school. Educate yourself and better your life. There is a one in thirteen million chance that you will win. Your odds that you can change your life when you depend on yourself instead of the lottery are a lot better.

For the record..I make 120,000$ a year after tax. I don't call that rich. I own my home.I own my car. I have money in the bank. After bills are payed I might play the lottery every now and then when it gets into the larger amounts. I play because I can afford to and for fun. Not because I am depending on it.
If I won. I would set up a trust and live off of the intrest and take care of my family with said interest.
Oh and honey...If you do win, with your attitude your life would not change for the better, and you would be putting up with "crap"from people a whole lot worse than me. Get the chip off of your shoulder....Green is not your color.

You don't call 120,000 rich ??? What planet are you from, Buddy ?

Everyone I know would think they were in heaven with that kind of money.

As for going back to school and "improving my life" once again you richies prove you are completely clueless to anything below your class line. Uh..if I quit my job and go back to school...I WOULDN"T BE ABLE TO PAY MY RENT OR BILLS. Hello !!! I love how your ilk just assume we can do all of the same things YOU can do. If that attitude wasn't so infuriating, it would be funny.

By the way, my attitude (and that of most people who work in retail or other customer service jobs) was gladly given to me courtesy of people like yourself. Customers who have a lot of money and think they are better then us humble little serfs.

Maybe if you started treating us better when you shop, we wouldn't have such bad attitudes. Ever think of that ? Because you can bet that we don't like walking around pissed off at people 99% of the time. Believe me, it isn't fun.

And another thing. Remember, the system is set up against the poor in the first place. Every minute detail is thought of and used to keep us exactly where we are. So don't blame us because we have "bad" attitudes. Bad attitudes come from getting the shaft again and again, ad nauseam.

Look, You act like a pitiful victim. You may not have chosen to be a victim, but you certainly choose to stay one. You do not work 24/7. There are more programs for you than you can imagine. No one is saying it is easy..you have to put forth the effort to have things in this life. 120,000 Is not Wealthy. It is middle class. I have not always made that amount. I too had to work at it. AND work very hard at it. We could compare hard times and times of woa all day. I choose not to. You have to start some where. Look at all the time you spend on this computer...you could be putting this time to work for you. The "System" is called capitalism. It has worked for so many. That is why people are dying to come here. Open your eyes. Start with something simple like selling stuff on ebay. There is way more opportunity for a poor person than you could ever imagine. Low intrest school loans, small business loans. Go check out books at the library in the financial section.
Or is it easier to sit around and gripe about it with your friends...Here is an idea...Be your own support group and start going to school, ebay, garage sale...what ever you are capable of together.

Well this system called "capitalism" doesn't work for ME or an awful lot of people I know.

But then again, we're all white. If we were another color then you would be right. We would have everything imaginable handed to us on a silver platter. But WE have to actually WORK for what we want.

Imagine that...a person who works...what a concept.
I notice you had no response to the suggestions that I made to make capitalism work for YOU.You have never tried to make it work. Nor did you have an answer as to my questions on your ideal situation. Let me guess...Someone win the lottery and give it to you. Or go about your doldrum life and win it yourself. How about in the mean time you get up and make something happen and stop complaining about it? Read the Rich Dad/Poor Dad series. It is free to check out at the library. You are the classic poor dad model. It also sounds like to me that you might want to rethink those you hang out with, you feed anger and hatred off of each other. You are sad.

He is right "This Sucks", you are a sad and pathetic soul. Are you really suggesting that the "rich" be penalized yet again to further the insufferable ignorance and complacency of those like yourself?

Between the Feds and the State of California I am losing over 35% of my income, much of which goes to pay for the social welfare benefits that keep lazy fools like you afloat. I want to vomit when I read ignorant remarks.

You suck.

And another thing, if you are so poor and downtrodden why are you spending any of your precious little income on an internet service. Moreover, why aren't you using the time you are spending online constructively? Better your life!!!

My wife was raised in a family of six. Her father earned $7000 per year running a dairy farm in Michigan. My family of five survived on less than $25,000 annually. Both of us came from nothing and have made something of ourselves. Not by griping but by doing. Not by wishing, but by working.

Was it hard? You bet it was. It still is. We sacrificed every single step of the way to struggled to make ourselves better. Today, I earn well beyond what you classify as wealthy and let me tell you, I still don't feel as though I make enough to have the lifestyle I want for my family. Am I going bitch about it? No, I am going to go forward with my life and work harder to ensure I reach all of my goals by the merit of my own efforts and not off the backs of any one more or less fortunate than I.

I am disturbed that you are even spending any of your sacred few dollars playing the lottery in the first place. When my wife and I were struggling there were no lottery tickets purchased, no dinners eaten at restaraunts, no cell phones or beer or cigarettes or other luxury expenditures. There was only work and intelligent planning to extricate ourselves from the financial hole we were living in.

Grow up. Focus your life and quit your whining.

Here is a lesson in taxes for you. If you are claiming that the wealthly pay the least amount how do you account for the federal tax rates?

A single working class indiviudal earning between $7,550.00 and $30,650 annually pays a whopping $755.00 in federal taxes and 15% of everything over $7,550.00. That means the top tier tax rate for such an individual would be $4,220.00.

A single working class individual earning your benchmark of $120,000.00 annually pays $27,931.50 in federal taxes. Who again is bearing the heavier burden? I'd say the guy paying $23,711.50 more annually is!!! That's in the 28% bracket after the mandatory $15,000+ base tax fee.

As far me thinking I am better than anyone, I suggest you re-read my last post. There has never been a job that I felt was beneath my social strata! If retail clerks made $120,000 annually I guess I would be in retail. However, life is not that easy. No, life requires those who want more to do more and to demand more - not of others but of themselves.

Is the system trying to keep people down? The system can only keep people down who choose to be kept down? No man or institution has any authority over me which I do not concede to it. You are conceding to this "system" which you despise. If you hate it so much, change your roll in the society.

I was raised with nothing, Up until I turned 21 I earned under $9,000 a year. I finally woke up one day and said "hey, I don't really like the taste of this" so I did something about it. I joined the Marine Corps and served for almost 8 years in the INFANTRY! That's hard work. While I was in I was married. I earned a whopping $19,000 annually as a Sergeant. When I wasn't in the field training or deployed overseas I would wake up at 2:00am with my wife and we would go deliver newspapers for extra money. We'd finish by 5:30 just in time for me go be a Marine for the day. On the weekends I would pull any odd job I could get my hands on for extra money. We didn't have internet. We didn't use credit cards. We didn't eat at restaraunts. We didn't do Christmas. We worked in a direction to ensure we wouldn't live that way forever.

You say you work hard. Good for you. That is a start. My father worked hard, but never in the right direction. When he died he didn't own a house, he had around $20,000 in debts and a total of $5,000 in cash hidden in a closet. That was his retirement. He was 72 years old. My mother was left with nothing for her future. In the 17 years I'd been alive to know him he'd only taken one vacation. What direction was he working in? Certainly not the right one. So I ask you, what direction are you working in?

You say you love your co-workers; what does that have to do with your present economic situation?... and your job is Ok most of the time, What time would that be? Certainly not on payday. I would never stay in a job because my co-workers were nice and I would never claim satisfaction from a job that leaves me resentful on the way to the bank.

The system does need the working class and, there are many that will be happy serving coffee to the wealthy well into their retirement. I don't happen to be one and by the looks of it neither are you. So, what are you going to do about it? Resolve yourself to get a CAREER that rewards people based on the merit of their efforts.
