Eufaula Mayor Charged With Embezzlement

McIntosh County prosecutors have charged the mayor of Eufaula with four counts of embezzlement.

You know this case here don't surprise me. The case is very sad. Why the Mayor but if they plead not Guilty. Then we have to see the outcome.

Please this is the 3rd time we need a new mayor people. We need someone who helps the people like maybe fixing the roads and lowering taxes.

This comment is batantly unfair. If anyone has followed the efforts of Joe to clear his name and reputation, you would be more informed. Joe was caught up in a scheme with crooked attorneys and scam artist and one day I'm sure his story will reveal who the real criminals were. For those of you interested Joe is currently enjoying a great new career and is a highly regarded and valued member of a well respected company in Texas.

Sounds to me that the Mayor is trying to get the monkey off his back. He needs to go! This wasn't the only drinking and driving incident just the only he is formally charged with. He has no drivers license and using city credit card for what GAS?????

I don't understand why Eufaula still have a Mayor like this. If city council is keeping him in makes me wonder if they need to be investigated. Actually with all the crap going on in McIntosh wonder if they should have all city's in McIntosh gone through with a fine tooth comb.

Well let's be completely fair. Everyone should have gone to jail over this. Just because Joe got outplayed and stuck to his guns it's not to deminish the harm done. Others might be guilty but so was he and he was the elected official in which his charge is to protect the public. This wasn't his first rodeo it might have been the first time he was bucked with this much attention however he knows all of
the years unchecked lead to this and he needed help. Don't bet the house and bitch when you loose.

How is it blatantly unfair? Convicted in a court of law. And nothing has come out to prove otherwise... Proof is always necessary. Sounds like you're blatantly one sided.

I was doing a search on Eufaula Mayor and found this article when I read it was not Eufaula Mayor Joe Johnson who was the Mayor 15 years ago but Mayor Dean Smith who got in trouble not long ago for several reasons. The search term is misleading
