Yes this is a nationwide problem. Many sites like the American Family Rights Association, fightcps.com , legallykidnapped.com , kidjacked.com , connecticutdcfwatch.com , and others provide much information on the subject.
Here in Ok. so much has come out regarding the deaths of children in custody, DHS employees committing crimes, children put or left in dangerous placements that have died, failing to pay proper reimbursements to foster parents, lack of proper legal representation of children in abuse/neglect cases, and other issues have resulted in a class action lawsuit,(which some think is a sham), legislative hearings,(closed to the public),and a performance audit by an outside firm at a cost of $420,000 to the taxpayers,(to avoid? a state audit like the one that resulted in the firing of the director of the Office of Juvenile Affairs two years ago over the issue of $20mil in "questionable" contracts?). There are many issues in our state that few are aware of that have effect on the safety of a great many children, and if not dealt with properly to bring accountability to our system then the long record of failures and child deaths will continue. And we will continue paying out large sums in lawsuits instead of it going to benefit children.
W. Moore,
Oklahoma Family rights Association.
Sounds like they need to be closed completely down and a new office already trained and in place to take over the one present there. Hold protest and Rallies to do this march on your capitol and go after them after all in the name of the children and there safety and the dead beats should go and the thieves to. I AM SURE bet the payments that belong to he care familes that foster have an over seas account!

This country is way behind the times with the laws of children and here protection.

Should not be punished? They should put her druggie but in jail for the rest of her low life, life. Goes to show you say no to drugs. Very said story and the grandparents are just as guilty as the so called parents. Sorry excuse for parents!!

Why is it the state can't protect the children they're already involved with like the child in this story, and instead of dealing with the many issues involved they want to do something like what is explained below.

State Rep. Morrissette who ran the hearings,(closed to the public)regarding problems at DHS including possible criminal acts that have led to the abuse and deaths of children as well as the destruction of many innocent families has put forth legislation to have all children screened for "body mass index" at schools. Parents of children deemed over or under weight would be notified and instructed to take the child to a Dr.,those who do not "cooperate" can then be reported to DHS. Homeschooled children would also be included.
So this is how we address the failings of DHS, by giving them more power over families and children.
Contact info for the rep. is below if anyone wishes to contact his office to give comments on this legislation.

Tulsa World news article,

"Some juvenile court records should be secret, legislative committee advises"

After reading this article, which appears to address the topic of this forum, it appears some might have wished the records getting out.

But if those running the Juvenile Court get their way records like these will not be released in the future, even if a child dies. And let's think about it, if these records weren't released in this case all we would have known might have been like the first interview with police that was on t.v., it was all just a tragic accident is what I believe their response was.

I know it is disgusting how they treat her like a grieving mother when in fact she allowed this to happen by being negligent. if you can't be responsible for your child then give it to someone who would love it and take care of it. lots of parents want to be parents and are responsible. I'm afraid this baby was just a meal ticket to this family. imo

Last I heard she got in trouble again while on probation. One thing for sure is that when the system lets people get away with these type of things they ensure job security for themselves.
